We've had the Rivian for almost 3 months now, and love it. Never going back to a gas vehicle. Don't miss the 4Runner one bit.
We did have a few warranty issues in the first month but overall it has been great. We have an R2 reservation as well...

We have a 2018 Tesla Model 3 since 10/18. This is my wife's driver, the most reliable vehicle that's ever been in our household. Bulletproof (except for the glass, 3 windshields replaced so far)
My wife is as tough on a vehicle as can be. If it can be broken in any manner she will do so. She really likes her Tesla.
I have a reservation on a Tesla Cybertruck and a Rivian R2. I think I'm going to transfer my CT reservation $$$ over to reserving a Powerwall to add to my Solar Panels.
Elon is taking on a Howard Hughes aura these days.....
My Daily driver is a still new 2024 4Runner Black Out, I've waited a long long time for this 4Runner.

What types of warranty issues did it have?
Any recent news on when the R2 will be available? They look perfect for a commuter.

So my friend's Rivian R1S tires are done at 12000 miles. Its down to 3/32nd tread.
For his 22in wheels only tire option with 3PMSF is BFG KO3 (Load E) and its whopping 61lbs. Non 3PMSF options are OE Pirelli Scorpion (XL) and Micheline Defender (Load E). :frustrated:

Zero off-roading. Pirellis seems to be bad on snow per him. Most likely Micheline Defender is the ticket with comfort may compromise due to been Load E and winter performance may not be good as 3PMSF tire at colders temps.

If go with OE recommended Pirreli so looks like about 2100 bucks + installation cost for tires vs with Michelines would put his around 1600 buck + installation cost.

Tires seem to be one of the bigger downfalls with EVs at the moment.

Mostly with the EV "Trucks" My wife's Tesla Model 3 got about 36,000 miles out of her last set of tires. Depends in part on what driving "settings" are. My wife drives hers on "Chill Mode"
and is a very conservative driver...except when she is driving a straight line on the freeway!

These big wheel sizes that manufacturers are going with really suck when it comes time to replace the tires.

Wish he bought the base 20in wheel. It has ton of options.
