    no, the conversion is for model years 2014 - 2020, not to mention the headlights on a 2012 T4R are completely different.

    A good set of bulbs for the 2012 reflector headlamps probably perform better than they would in the 2014-2021 projector headlamps, so the upgrade from halogen to led wouldn't be as significant. The GE/Tungsram +130 would be a great improvement over the stock bulbs, assuming the headlamps haven't yellowed.

    If a set of LED headlamps would bolt up to the 2012, you'd also have to swap the fenders and front fascia along with other things to make it work.

    In that case the headlights would fit, but you'll need to confirm wiring from the truck to make sure the functions remain the same or can be altered to work correctly with the new headlights.

    The newer style headlamps are 2014+. I think the 4Runner has been using H11 low beams from 2006 to 2020, and 9005s high beams since the 90s.

    Best way to make sure is to test all functions (low-beam, high-beam, DRL, etc) to see what turns on and if it's functioning as expected. Then check the wiring harnesses/plugs and take pictures. Either upload them to this thread or contact @daveeasa directly.

    Yeah, if you get me details I can probably accommodate. I have H11 males and females, in this case I believe I'd only need the male side, but I'd definitely need polarity identified.

    Hey quick question, i have a 2015 trail 4runner and snagged a set of headlights that came off a 2024 4runner this weekend. I believe they are bi-led. I am trying to figure out which harness to order. Option 2 on your site is listed as the ideal option for quad high beams (halogens and led’s), but wouldnt that look worse than just LED’s? Whats the reasoning behind that being the ideal option and not option 3. I plan on ordering as soon as i figure that out- thanks in advance.

    Ideal option uses your DRL bulb as an additional high beam. The LED highs are a solid... meh. So you get the best of both.

    For those of us who have tinkered, namely the work Tory did initially, but also based on my own checks on the bench, the LED projector high beam is highly unsatisfying.

    Now, I have no T4R (want one though!) so I don't know what it's like driving on streets at night with led projectors but then again, I rarely even consider using my high beams as I don't get out to the boonies much. I also have my own truck headlights aimed terribly low and need to deal with that at some point when time permits.

    Given that high beams are meant to blast light as far down the road as possible, more light seems better intuitively to my brain (for high beam use). The only potential consideration that would give me pause on the choice would be if the DRL bucket design caused excessive foreground light from the 9005 bulb which negated any benefit of them being on with high beams. I assume a DRL bucket is meant to project forward at distance, just as a high beam, but that's where Tory and I end up out of our depths, neither of us has much background in reflector design so we can only speculate on the differences. Personally, I've never seen the 2021 headlights which have the old high beam reflector but LED projector, those seem like the holy grail but the LED projector on them has no shutter wire pinned so it's unclear how we'd get them to quad high beams. Then again, if you have an awesome 9011 HIR bulb for high beams and a high beam reflector bucket, who really cares about the low beam. With those headlights it might be tempting to run low beams as DRL given they are LED and should last decades, all you'd have to do is set the stalk to low beam and leave it there, rather than auto?

    It would be cool if a few others did some subjective comparisons of their own, at night, in their environment. I think it might be as simple as removing the high beam fuses to disable quad high beams? Definitely unplugging the 9005 bulbs should work. And you'd likely want to compare both stock 9005's (for someone focused on DRL longevity) and HIR 9011's (which far and above were the best high beam bulbs I ever tried, back when we had the Odyssey minivan.)

    I think I remember crashnburn80 getting some numbers off these headlights with various 9005/9011 bulbs and posting it on TacomaWorld but not sure that is or if it's linked in this thread.

    Bottom line: The LED high beam only option is there for the select few who really want it, really want stock behavior, etc. At this point in time I'd pick quad high beams as I don't know of any downside, but I have no real world driving experience to support that.

    Fellas, I have one (and only one) Quad High Beam harness, just re-tested that is a return so it is cosmetically not as clean as brand spanking new. But it's fully functional and within 2-3 months will be the exact same as what a new one will be, a little bent up and a scuff or two but fully functional. Offered at $100 shipped to you. DM me if you want this, I'll update the post once it's sold.

    I installed a set of 2022 bi-LED headlights and the quad high beam harness last weekend. The lights are great an definitely an improvement, but I noticed the bi-LED high beam is slightly delayed (less than 1 second) to turn off compared to the reflector high beam. Has anyone else experienced this? I assume it may be a relay delay unless there is something wrong with my headlight units. I took a video but have no idea how to upload it here. I might make a youtube video and share the link.

    The relay should not be too slow, see if you can get a clock on it maybe. The shutter is mechanical so it may take some time for whatever electromagnetic force is applied to stop and then a spring to pull it. Meanwhile the halogen 9005 filament doesn’t turn off immediately either as it takes a little time to de-energize. Certainly curious on this and I’ll pay closer attention during the bench testing I’m about to do.

    Yeah, I just tested on the bench and I don't see any lag. Curious what you see. Maybe the ECU is involved? You might want to document what you're doing with the stalk? Are you leaving low beams on and pulling back / pushing forward or low beams off and pull/push or auto headlights during day or auto at night or ...

    Here is a quick video I took of the delay. With the volume up, you can hear me disengaging the stalk. The same happens with both the push forward (full engaged high beams) and the pull back (quick trigger of high beams).

    I'm not familiar with the inner workings of the 2021+ headlight housings but I assume they have a relay built in for the bi-led? Maybe this is an issue of relays in sequence if that is the case?

    Boy I forgot to reply to this.

    So here's what I'm trying to do: I wanna upgrade the hi-breams to an LED from halogen, BUT don't want them pulling full 12v and blind people during the day. Only full power when used at night. Lower power pull for drl and only full when full lights are engaged.

    Again, have a 21 ORP. LED low beams, halogen hi beams.

    I wanna see which harness is sold on the website would do this?

    You're looking for LED drop-in bulbs to replace your existing 9005 halogen bulbs. This is something that is unacceptable for low beams and I would expressly discourage against them, but high beam patterns aren't nearly as critical since they're not needed for distance or driving against opposing traffic.

    The only LED bulbs I have experience with are the Xtreme Pro ones that are equipped with DRL drivers - these are able to dim for DRL use and go to full brightness for high beam. They worked well and I have no complaints. I got rid of mine when I switched back to superior 9011 halogen bulbs.

    +1 for everything Tory wrote.

    As far as the 9005’s go, someone fact check me, but I believe 2021+ do series wiring for DRL via 9005. I make a harness to change that to parallel which will allow LED 9005’s to work since most won’t turn on at 6V. I defer to Tory on any alternative options for that, note that he has an older vehicle which does PWM dimming which is the way to go for LED bulbs.

    If I owned a 2021-2025 (maybe someday) I might be tempted to take the DRL feed and send it to some aftermaket pods or strips. Then tap the shutter wire to a relay harness and feed 9011 HIR bulbs in the headlights as quad high beams. But that’s a lot of work just for high beams that I almost never use anyway.

    I'm not 100% on this, but 2021 was an oddball model year in which only the TRD pro and limited editions got the bi-LED projectors with 6V DRLs and updated wiring to reflect that.

    The other trims for that year got a set of one-off LED low-beams and the carryover dual use DRL/high-beam 9005 reflectors, which use PWM.

    The most common choice is the quad high beam option if your new headlights have the shutter wire pinned.
