Slowly putting the 4Runner 2016 together. Frontline roof rack, TMC wheels, new tires. Next looking at a Rigd swing out tire carrier, cat back exhaust and cold air kit.
Would appreciate any suggestions regarding a cold air kit that fits as it should and doesn’t create any engine codes. Exhaust advice is also welcome no problem with a more aggressive sound but I would prefer to minimize a drone at highway speeds.
    Thanks!

You already have one installed from the factory.

I should have done a search before I posted. Ready, shoot, aim. Maybe I’ll keep the stock set up and just drop a nice K&N filter in.
    Thanks

Avoid the oiled ones from what I’ve seen. AFE and AEM make dry filters

You do what you want, but Toyota factory air intakes and filters are very good. You're not going to gain anything, and an oiled filter (K&N) is inviting MAF sensor issues.

I second this. Unless you’re wanting that special intake noise, the OEM setup works great.

I tried the TRD exhaust but it was too loud inside and haven’t tried another.

Stock is cold air and most all kits pull in air from the same place. If you have to have one for noise look at something boxed or simply change the tube to HPS so it looks better.

I'd avoid the TRD pro exhaust like the plague. Zero performance gains. Sounds terrible. Drone is unbearable.

The stock 4Runner air intake and filter is one of the best setups I've seen. Large surface area. Positive sealing where the airbox opens. Large diameter run to the manifold to not be restrictive.

I with the setups on my other vehicles were this nice.

p.s. - I thought it was April Fools this morning upon seeing a Lucas cylinder oil and a CAI post at the top the list.

Best ambient air intake there is.
