No need for additives. I just change my oil regularly.

Same, this goes into the fuel tank, so advertised to do more than just lubricate like motor oil does.

Waste of money, every 10k oci with whatever brand of synthetic on sale and your motor will go 500k miles easy

True… wish the body would last that long. Sad how badly they rust. I’ve been using fluid film but the damage is done.

Exactly. An ounce of prevention... Change your oil early if you are concerned.

Now, I personally do use various additives, but this is in a classic cars that are 40+ years and are not built for modern oil formulations or track cars that spend a lot of time at the redline, or DI-only cars with known carbon buildup issues, etc.

Absolutely no reason for oil or fuel additives in a daily driver 4Runner that gets top tier fuel and regular oil changes.

Sooo you're adding a lubricant into a giant tank of solvent and that doesn't sound off to you?

It's snake oil like 90% of what Lucas sells and the other 10% is a band aid for broken shit. Just use good gas and change your oil properly.

    I guess you’ve never heard of a two-stroke…

Is your 4Runner a two stroke?

Haha. No but a two-stroke runs off of a mix of gas and oil.

Right but we're not talking about two stroke oil which is for an engine designed to be lubricated by this mixture. My comment was because there is nothing in a 4 stroke engine that will take advantage of this. A 4-stroke isn't designed to take advantage of lubricant in the fuel because the fuel never enters the crankcase when things aren't broken. Gas will prevent most lubricants from adhering to surfaces so you're not adding lubricant anywhere that it is needed, you're adding a lubricant to a system that has no parts that need lubrication and will just inject that mixture into a cylinder where it is immediately burned.

This is incorrect for any engine, but more so for forced induction.

Watch this for good explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAmEGI7xvBw

This is why it's stupid to try to be helpful on the internet because someone will always hyperfocus on a general statement and post some video like it's universal gospel. Your oil choice and routine and driving habits will have an exponentially greater impact on the longevity of your engine than anything you run through fuel. If you are to the point that the additives in the fuel are impacting your wear outside an academic setting then I congratulate you on your discipline.

Don’t run that stuff through your injectors and fuel system. Especially the 4Runners since it recirculates it.

This is a great video. There is a measurable benefit to fuel that contains anti-wear/friction modifier additives. 15:05 is the main part talking about this.

Are you putting vehicle into storage for many months of nonuse? Then maybe a good idea.
