    Not how it works. My 2016 Tacoma was hit from the side by a truck who failed to yield in 2020. Damaged the side and deployed my airbags. Insurance company was going to fix it, but I was able to convince them to write it off as they were going to use aftermarket parts which I did not want. The moment I brought up diminished value, it was enough for them to write it off.

    I was probably the OEM vs aftermarket difference too. The cost difference is insane... especially doing things like re-manufactured airbags.

    One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
    You are right, but it might be limited to liability coverage only.
