I am looking for some feedback on a car decision. I am trying to downsize my fleet pre-retirement. Before I get into my decision, I also have a 2003 F150 and a 2022 Rav4 Hybrid, I am keeping both of those. My two toys are as follows:

    2003 Jeep Wrangler Sahara
    150k Miles
    Auto
    Hard top
    No rust, everything works
    - No fun on longer trips (but I have the Rav4 anyway)
    - Bad on gas (but not as bad as the 4Runner)
    - Tight seating
    + Fun in the summer
    + Reliable
    + Easy to work on

    2008 Toyota 4Runner
    V8
    Sport
    150k Miles
    No rust, everything works
    - Big
    - Bad on gas
    + Sounds great
+ Tows (but so does the F150)
    + Comfortable
    + Reliable

Both cars have a clean history and are in great shape for their age. They are only weekend/occasional cars. It is getting to be too much to care for and drive this fleet (poor me, I know). Plus the insurance rates keep going up. So which one should I keep? I go back and forth. I think the 4Runner would be easier to sell as they are more uncommon.

You have another 150K on the 4Runner.

I think both could probably run for quite a while yet!

If you’re only driving them on the weekends, then keep the jeep because you can take the top off. Sounds like you’re covered on a reliable daily driver.

Where do you live? Asking in case I get a hankering for your 4Runner.

I guess it depends on your weekend intentions, it sounds like the Jeep would be better for recreational off-road shenanigans, especially being shorter and the F-150 and RAV4 already cover what you'd do with the 4Runner.

Maybe you can counter the longer trip comfort issue by towing the Wrangler with the F-150?

Jeep. Keep it as a weekend vehicle for fun only.

Gotta lean Jeep in this case. Full disclosure, I’ve owned two TJ’s before, including a 2003. Last link in concept to the beloved compact CJ’s, it’s a topless, reliable, street-legal ATV that you instinctively drive off pavement at any moment. Strictly for the weekends, but as you already know, few vehicles this side of a McLaren will put a bigger smile on your face.

And to the Toyota’s credit, you can already see within this thread that there’ll be no shortage of others who will line up to pay you top dollar for your unicorn V8 4R.
