Just for curiousity, I entered my 23' TRD ORP into Carvana (8,000 miles) and they are offering to buy it from me for $45,600. I think I paid $46,200 for it at the Dealership last October lol.

I've sold to Carvana twice before and it was so painless and easy. But before I considering accepting their offer, I want to make sure I can't sell it for more locally first. Btw before you ask why am I selling, and what will I get next, I have 8 vehicles. lol. The 4runner was never my daily, and really, it just sits around taking up garage space for my next project car.

What is a '23 TRD ORP with the multi terrain cameras, TRD wheels, and remote start with 8,000 miles really worth? Is $45,600 a great offer and I should just take it?

Have you tried the KBB instant cash offer yet, for comparison?

Why not try to sell it for a little more. If it doesn’t sell in 7 days, then take the Carvana offer before it expires.

I did not even think of the KBB instant cash offer, and just went and did it ... $43,830.

Just curious why? Is that a really good price? Are values going to drop since the new models out? Trying to figure out if I should jump on that due to whatever reasoning, or can I simmer on it for a little bit..... TIA.

Values will drop on the 5th gen when an ample inventory of 6th gens is available.

There is no date for 6th Gen release, so don't expect "ample inventory" for at least the next 6 months.

I bought a 2024 for $47,760 (plus fees). There is no way I would buy a 2023 model for $45k, not with 8k miles. It would have to be $42,500 or less for me to drive something a year older with almost 10k miles. Why would someone pay $45k for a used 4R when they can buy new for $2,500 more? Just me, but I think the used market prices are too high and I won't buy used vehicles at new car prices.

Absolutely, at this time...considering their usual markup is about $4k that would put yours on their lot for close to $50k
Like @Acesandeights mentioned, no way we'd pay that for used, but perhaps others would? Now what will the market be like in a few months? Unknown
Regardless, let us know what you decide.

No look at the 3rd gen Tacomas they actually went up in value because the 4th gen taco is an overpriced piece of shit which the 4Runner will be 100 percent the same for everything except the bed

They’re getting harder to find brand new 24 models especially the sought after trd off road premium especially in a popular color those are probably all gone or the dealers are making them up

That may be true, but I don't think that increases the value of a 2023 with 8k miles. YMMV.

You could try to get more by shopping it around but I have yet to see any non retail car buyers give more than carvana. You could try to sale it face to face and put up with people but I don’t think you will get much more especially when you add in the time and hassle.

also you can look at it this way. Would you pay $1000 to not have to deal with strangers that are trying to low ball you and any scams they are going to try and pull.

Personally I would pay 2k to not have to deal with the hassle of it all but I am also the type of guy that would rather pay 2 times the admission fee vs free admission day for a museum.

Supply and demand if there’s no more 2024s left and someone wants one what are they going to do? Also the trim and color plays a huge role, a white sr5 is a dime a dozen but let’s say an army green trd off road premium that will fetch a little more

I sold my 2021 tundra to a Toyota stealership for more than 6k than what carmax or carvana offered. It’s a bad time to sell right now, people are broke despite what lies the media spews

Last month I traded in my '22 ORP with only 4k miles for $44.5k (I think the original sticker was $46k). I know this was a real price because I had already finalized the price of the truck I was purchasing. Dealer (Ford) put it on the lot the next day listed at $48k and it sold almost immediately. I actually ended up buying another new 4R last week, a '24 ORP. I paid sticker for it, $52k. I'm pretty sure it was one of the last new ORP's in the NE.

Definitely take it. It wasn't worth $45K new.

I am very 50/50 on it. Not sure if I will experience sellers remorse and to what extent. Or will I be able to overcome any remorse by knowing that I sold it for $600 less than I bought it for 12 months/8,000 miles ago? Thankfully the Carvana offer expires 10/17 so I have a few more days to mull it over.

So you don't need to have a 4Runner in your garage? i.e. when the 6th gen comes out with a $55k pricetag, you won't be inclined to buy? Then sell it now because it makes sense from a financial perspective.

Ha I know it sounds funny but I always wanted a 4R and had the cash laying around, so why not? I already have a 4wd SUV but its a little older, and I use it mainly to tow stuff these days. At the time, it was the 4R or an Escalade/Yukon Denali, which I went and test drove a few of those but know that they were having Lifter/Cam problems right off the assembly line. So to be safe, I went with the 4R.

If you’re not using it, and it’s taking up space, then you probably won’t regret selling it.

As far as the carvana offer, it seems decent. Some buyers may not want to pay new price for used, but a one owner, well-kept 4runner with 8k miles is effectively new. And the 6th gen, judging from the Tacoma prices, will be selling at a higher price bracket and may end up attracting a completely different buyer. Literally, 5th gens have sailed, and if you don’t have one now and want one, a nice example with 8k miles will sell… because that’s all there is. Heck, If I had the space, and extra money, I’d love to have a backup 5th gen lol. If I had to guess, the offer you got will go up between the time that new inventory completely disappears, and release of the 6th gen. And depending on 6th gen price and potential problems it may have, it may stay up since many will get priced out with the new one.

TL/DR: how much you want for that piece of junk? :p
