I just took my 2019 4Runner Limited to the dealer in Carson City, NV for an oil change and was told that the front shocks are leaking fluid. The vehicle has X-Reas suspension (whatever that means). This 4Runner only has 36K miles on it and I drive primarily flat freeways. I never drive bumpy, dirt roads. I don't notice any change in the way the car is handling. I'm absolutely shocked (no pun intended) that a Toyota with such low mileage could need new shocks. I currently also have a 1999 4Runner that is still running on original shocks. I'm so disappointed in this car that I'm thinking of selling it. Anyone else have a similar problem and, if so, did you have them replaced? Thanks for any advice.

Shocks generally should be replaced every 50k miles, or roughly 5 years. That's the expected life span, and you're pretty much there.

You can't keep milk in the fridge for too long without it starting to smell.

Limited xreas shocks or notorious for leaking at lower mileage. Most people replace them with standard shocks. The new ones. Will last much longer.
