Help understanding house foundation report.

    This is exactly what we were told.
    The area where the soil meets the foundation is critical. If the soil is completely parched, it actually moves away from the foundation.
    In this particular case, the entire edge of the foundation had gaps between it and the soil.
    The owner did not water anything for close to 10 years.
    Also, we were told the underground area where the septic tank sits is usually well moised. So the master bedroom at the back was at great elevation but everything else was leaning.

    I know different parts of the Country have different professionals in the Real Estate industry.
    I think an architect or forensic architect can distill all the information you have obtained and explain your options and costs.
    Walking away now seems like the best advice.
    Building Officials who are in charge of the area this property is located have absolute authority.
    Usually the govt. officials do not interpret the codes for laymen. Their industry deals with licensed builders , designers and architects. Code enforcement tends to be adversarial with property owners.

    Not only did they allow their landscape die and bring down the value of the property they actually destroyed their house by not watering. I see it all the time. If a house has neglected landscape there is a good chance the foundation can have issues in North Texas.

    You also have to think if someone won’t take care of the grass what else will they not take care of inside.
