Hi all! Just curious if there is a way to find out what is the last production month for the N280 4Runners. I just got a new TRD Pro Underground to replace my wrecked Terra (sad day, luckily I found another ‘24). Mine is from July ‘24.
What month are yours manufactured in? Does it matter for production quality? Is it bittersweet to you as well?

I think production ended in early September. Mine just came off the boat a couple of days ago. I was very happy/relieved that I was able to replace my '22 with a brand new one before they are all gone. As far as quality, I wouldn't worry about anything coming out of a Japanese factory regardless of when it was assembled.

Build date located inside drivers door; I bought my Underground TRD Pro the same day it arrived at dealership 100 miles away on 2 Oct. No 4runners at any dealer nearby; my build date is July 2024.

From the threads I’ve cruised through, seems the post Covid 5th gens have had more issues.

Could be, but there seems to be a higher number of new forum members complaining about QA issues that I didn’t notice 4-5 years ago. Maybe it’s AI posts?

They have had quality issues all along. It's just the toyota hype is wearing off and people are seeing toyota isn't actually any better than anyone else

I thought this was resolved. And more of an issue with the Mexican-built Tacoma, not Japan-build 4R.

People are reporting 10-15% discounts off msrp in the what did you pay thread for 2024. Trd pros less often but still under msrp. Of course some hopeful dealers still have markups

That's because Toyota apparently pulled the if you can't move 4Runners, you aren't getting Land Cruisers line. Sales dude when I bought mine said initial allocations were tied to 4Runner sales so they were doing all they could to get them out the door.

Tell that to my wife's new Grand Cherokee that suffered head gasket failure at 10k and transmission failure at 35k. I'll stick to my Toyota thanks.

Not for a dealer! The new Land Cruiser ticks a lot of boxes is going to be in-demand. All of us here probably barely represent a small portion of overall 4Runner buyers too.

Why would it be? My local dealers can't even keep them in stock and are advertising vehicles still being built on the website.

Two things can be true. Toyota isn't infallible anymore but you can do worse. I had similar major issues with my Gladiator that left me running back to Toyota but issues with my 3rd gen Taco are what had me looking elsewhere in the first place.

Having switched from a 2013 SR5 to a 2023 ORP I can tell you there's been zero drop off in quality, at least on "my" vehicle. Mine has been issue proof so far and shows zero signs of any pending issues, so all good with me.

The new Land Cruiser looks how I wish the new 4runner did (minus not having a roll down rear window), not agro, rather simple. Both are still WAY too large, I've always said that about the 5th gen and the 6th gen turned it up to 11 by being even larger.

My 1998 4runner has awful orange peel on the paint, I know it's the original paint too. Quality was never 100%, it was never 99% either. If you think 4runners have it bad, you should see the white paint defect thread on Tacomaworld.

Toyota's v6 engine problem doesn't have me impressed. That is a manufacturing flaw not a design flaw. It's still really stupid it happened. Wait a year or two if you're worried

I currently have a 2023 4Runner trd off road premium issue free so far but I had a 2022 4Runner trd off road premium that had a bunch of issues that warranty couldn’t fix all of them (rattles from behind the dash and headliner sunroof) luckily I was able to dump that one without a loss

Lol if it were a manufacturing flaw they wouldn't be reworking select main bearings, and it wouldn't have been happening across two different plants over 6 years. And the main bearings aren't the only issue
