I am at 17k miles, havent changed diff nor greased propshaft, how fcked am I?

Hardly!
Grease the shaft at next service and change the diff oil at 30k.

 

You guys are fine, I promise.

Driveshaft greasing and differential oils are often neglected by the general public. I don’t think I can get myself to slide around under there every 5k miles personally.

 

what about greasing UCAs?

 

Just bought my first 4Runner (going to pick it up on Saturday) and want to do the maintenance myself. This is awesome and so helpful! Thank you!

 

Did both front and rear diffs at 30k miles. Rear diff looked liked it needed to be changed right at 30k miles. Front diff looked good and I could have gone another 30k miles without changing (but I’ll keep doing it at the same time as the rear diff, it’s cheap and I’m already down there…)

I make sure I do at the very least the monthly 10 miles in 4wd. In the winter I usually drive a few hundred miles in the snow when I go skiing and the weather is bad but that’s about it. I would guess I’ve probably done less than 5k miles in 4wd by the time the ODO reached 30k miles
