I am looking purchase the factory PPF kit and install myself since full kits installed at a shop are fairly pricey.

Can anyone possibly take a photo of their port/factory installed PPF kit.

Interested to see where the cutoff lines and fitment.

    Thank you

Definitely do not get a partial hood ppf. Looks terrible as time goes by. The line becomes very apparent.

You can buy pre cut kits from xpel which is far higher quality than the junk toyota uses

Or get super lucky like I did, turns out my dealer uses the same shop who did my ceramic tint and they confirmed my ppf is xpel that they installed.

Mine is straight shit, I do not recommend. Passenger side has bubbles and now has trail dust all up in it. The coverage is terrible as noted by the dings. I'll grab pics later tonight.

I understand you want to save money but unless you have extensive knowledge doing installs on PPF I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself.

I would find a reputable installer that uses high quality PPF like Xpel and wraps the edges of the film. If they don't wrap the edges move onto the next installer that does. If your options are limited then you really don't have much of a choice.

Partial hood and lower quality PPF will definitely show the lines over time and will start to turn yellow. I would highly recommend doing some sort of paint correction before applying any PPF.

Toyota does not have a Factory PPF kit. The “factory kits” are really just junk put together by your regions Toyota distributors and rebranded with a Toyota logo. They get the cheapest material for the highest profit. You will be better off going aftermarket that way you can control the quality.

This is why some areas of the US have different part numbers for accessories and access to different accessories overall.

The option I am referring to would be on the factory window sticker. I saw a 4R on the lot when I was looking to buy new but it was months ago and forgot exactly where the lines cut off at.

The kit I see listed throughout the US is part # PT90789100. Partial hood and fenders, believe it includes mirror caps and door hand cups.

I understand the limits it offers and have applied tint and PPF previously. Vehicle paint is corrected and ceramic coated, still under 500 miles on odometer. Full hood and front end is 1800$ in my area.

ID_Yeti, is your PPF listed as a option on the window sticker? Thanks for trying to get some pics.

The regional distributors reprint the window stickers to include all “port installed items”.

it’s definitely not put on in Japan and cheap PPF that is guaranteed to turn yellow and start to crack after a few years. The worst part is when it gets really old trying to get it off without trashing the paint your trying to protect.

I fully understand the various options installed at port. I am just looking to sort out any dealer PPF installs versus port.

There is a good chance the dealer installed would be better than what you’re calling “factory” i.e. port.

Spend the extra money and find a good Xpel installer. What’s some extra cash when you spent this much. Just my opinion. Can’t beat Xpel

Hard to get pics of the dings and bubbles, i don't have my window sticker so not sure on origin. Pretty sure is dealership installed. Next oil change I am going to see if they will do anything about it otherwise I am ripping it off and will diy some expel.

Front driver, doesn't have enough coverage forward.

We all have the 3M stuff with an ORP trim level on the bottom of the doors. That is also where the paint is more gritty on the ORP. I thought the original poster was referring to other body panels such as hood getting cheaper film.

I would not remove the stuff from factory on bottom of doors too early. One other poster had an issue with a paint chip when having Xpel installed. May have been installer did not apply enough heat or too little.

Personally I would research best Xpel film installer in your respective area and talk with them.

Also should you decide to replace film on bottom of doors Xpel does sell a thicker film versus the the one they make for other body panels. This one is offered for bottom of door rocker panel areas to mitigate stone chips from tires
