Well I was a LR LR4 owner for four years. It was a great truck til it wasn't last week.
Took me over a week to find an actual 4Runner TRD Pro on a lot here in the Wash DC area.
Seems all the trucks on web sites were already sold and no longer there or were in-bound yet pre-sold before they even got to a lot.
We had a pretty good experience with Ourisman Toyota Fairfax. Competent, cordial and pleasant staff.
    See how this goes?

    Cheers
    Mitch

    Welcome and congratulations!

Just curious, what went wrong with the Landy? I really like the LR4, though I'm not brave enough to buy one.

Trail Runnah, I took care of that truck for 4 yrs. Have a really great shop here north of Dulles airport.
Was driving home and it over-heated. Was able to get it home, less than 2 mi. Had it roll backed to the shop.
Next day during diagnosis one side of the radiator was 100deg hotter than the other side. Fluorocarbon test failed miserably.
Head gasket disintegrated and sucked into the coolant system and clogged the radiator. Shot the engine.
It was the last year of the Jag super charged v6. Man that truck was fast! And rode like a dream. Just a great truck, til it wasn't.
New motor is $14K, $12K to take out and put in for labor etc etc etc..... you get the picture.
I got a local guy who was willing to tackle it with a head gasket & coolant system rebuild, yet that was $8K minimum.
KBB was $15K, only had 112K miles...... couldn't see putting in a $14K engine w/ parts that have 112K miles on them.
Sold it to the only guy around here for miles that truly works on these for $3K.... LoudounRova if you're interested.
Really good Tuff Ant rims and rubber..... What a shame.

    Cheers

Ouch, that's rough. I definitely agree with your decision, I would have made the same call. Must have been a sad day though, after all that care and maintenance that you put into it.

Honestly, I forgot they had the supercharged V6, I was looking at the older ones with the 5.0 Jay V8. From what I can tell with those, the biggest issue is with the timing chain and guides.

The Rover was faster and probably more comfortable, but the great thing about the 4Runner is that it's almost boringly reliable. You're not going to have any of those issues with the 4Runner unless you completely neglect and abuse it for years.
