Best rotor brand?

Hey all! I have to replace my rear rotor soon because they're getting really thin and does anyone have any experience with a brand that they really love and would suggest me buying? I'm getting them from rock auto so I see a lot of different brands but I'm just wondering what experiences people have had with different brands.

 

Drilled rotors tend to crack around the bores. Really OEM rotors are more than adequate.

 

OEM, it's better than most aftermarket anyway.

 

If you're buying from RA, stick with Advics, Powerstop, or Brembo. Advics are a Toyota OEM supplier, Powerstop are good aftermarket, and Brembo are one of the kings of the braking world.

 

Stick with Toyota

I choose OEM also, if you’re sold on purchasing from Rock Auto, post #4 is great advice.

 

Not Rock Auto cheap, but I do like my new OEM brakes.

Note that Toyota sells OEM and an “economy” line.

I went with the factory installed OEM. The originals went 9 years and 56,000 miles. Seems like good wear. Rear rotors list at $109.99, I got them for $87.99. (Each)

 

If it was a performance vehicle, I would recommend brembo, galfers etc.
For the 4runner, OEM is the way.

 

I used to always go oem but follow a guy on YouTube who owns a 4Runner and is a certified Toyota mechanic. He swears by Durago coated rotors. I have 4 of them and will have them installed in about an hour. I got mine at rock auto. He does say to use oem pads but for rotors he uses Durago.

 

OEM - or if you want to spend more and get more performance: Stoptech, PowerBrake D Line and R1 Concepts make good ones for 4runners. Personally, I run Stoptech at the moment. Will go Powerbrake D Line on the next change out.

 

OEM rotors with a good quality pad such as EBC or Powerstop if you do any towing or hauling. I have noticed my stopping distance has decreased slightly since upgrading to 33's.
