    Hello all,
After getting my car detailed, cleaning and pushing on top of the steering wheel caused an internal bracket to come loose. I think its purpose is to help keep the airbag in position, or to minimize pushback toward the steering wheel in the event of deployment.

Some rubber seals were glued to the two brackets, holding them together (the one that came off and the one still mounted with screws on the assembly).

I haven’t been able to find a break down to see if I can order the brackets sealed together, anyone able to give info on if this is possible?

Or, is this something worth looking into resealing? Though not sure the best way to do that…
    Thank you for any advice!!

A little dab of silicone caulking? I can't stand rattles, but that's what I'd try first...

That's just a vibration damper. Tacomas for example don't have it. It's ironic a vibration damper is now causing rattles.

Go buy a replacement part. It's $39 online or $53 at your local dealer parts counter. Not worth the trouble to dick around with gluing the weight back onto the bracket with some JB Weld or rubberized adhesive.

Given the name of the part - Damper, Steering Shake, you may get increased steering wheel shake or shimmy if you drive with the weight missing.
