I have a 2015 4 runner limited. The brights are awesome and lights up the road really well. The low beams are really dim and I can't see more than 30 or 40 ft in front of the suv. I have put led's in it but it's the same problem. I'm wondering if it'd an issue with the headlight assembly or a voltage issue.

The halogen headlights are notorious for being bad. You can swap an H9 in for some increased brightness but they still suck

Do they make a new headlight assembly that isn't halogen based? I wonder if that will help to use leds with a clear lense.

You can find OEM LED assemblies that basically look the same but perform significantly better. Look on CL/FB and you can usually find them for $200-500 for a set.

On my 2019 Limited now I'm running Hikari Titanova H11 LEDs. Brighter than factory LEDs on my 2021 4runner and still got a sharp cutoff line. Test video will publish in couple of weeks.

Highbeams I'm running Xenon Depot LED Pro with DRL driver. High beam output is decent and DRL mode is excellent.

For low beams I've tried few more options like Nighlight H11, Lasfit LA series and they were pretty good too.

I also swapped the halogen fog lights to OEM style LED fog lights.

Look at your headlights from a distance or from another vehicle. If they seem different from all of the other vehicles you see, you may have a problem. Maybe they are adjusted too low. If all of that looks okay then you are fine and you do not need to "upgrade" to something blinding to other drivers. Often if you can't see far enough with stocks lighting you are going too fast.

Please check to make sure they are properly adjusted before you throw a parts cannon at it.

As others mentioned, check the level of the headlights. I upgraded my stock halogen bulbs to Lasfit bulbs, with OEM LED fogs and the colors are pretty close. Definitely lights up the road, and don't get high beam flashed ever. Good luck.

Not many options for my 2011. I put the H9s in there. It helped but it's still not great. Brights are fine.

Since H9 don't have the cap in front the light might be scattered. Have you tried a high power H11 bulb like Philips xtreme vision?
I personally used them before trying HIDs and LEDs. They were pretty good. For 2011s with reflectors I think it might be a good option than H9 since the light is better controlled.
