Looking to upgrade my 2015 4Runner

    2015 Toyota 4Runner Limited
I currently drive a 2015 4Runner Limited in the magnetic gray metallic exterior color with a brown interior. I bought it in 2019 with 65k miles for about $27k, now I have around 110k miles on it and I could probably get around $25k for it if I sold it privately. I've never had an issue with the car and I love it.
I'd like to get a nice 5th generation 4runner in the 2020-2023 range, and I'm thinking either a TRD Pro or the TRD off road premium. I have never gone off-roading but I think I'd like to try it, but I mainly want to upgrade based on the looks and updated features. I also love the reliability and value of the 4Runners as I plan to drive this car for the next 10 years.
After doing some research I love the Lunar Rock color. I can get a 2021 TRD Pro in lunar rock with about 50k miles for $48k. I could also get a 2023 TRD Off Road Premium in lunar rock with about 30k miles for $48k. The off road premium comes with the TRD grill and wheels, so the only significant difference I notice on the exterior is the front and rear bumpers are silver on the 23 off road (black on the 21 Pro), and there's no roof rack on the 23 off road. Also there's no TRD skid plate on the 23 off road premium.
I'm really torn on which one to buy. The TRD Pro is rarer and I think it will most likely hold its value better. The 23 off road premium is newer and has a few technology and safety improvements compared to the 21 TRD Pro. I'm wondering if there are any significant differences between these two models that I'm missing. They look almost identical to each other.
I'm also wondering whether I should trade in my current 2015 limited to the dealership I end up buying from or if I should just sell it privately. I know I'll get more for selling it privately but it's a hassle.
I appreciate any input that anyone would like to provide. Thanks!

One thing to consider is the Pro's Fox suspension might be nearing the point of needing either replacement or rebuild (if that can be done) at 50k. The ORP with 30k is set for a while suspension-wise. You'll most likely get half recommending the Pro and half the ORP. Have you test driven either one?

Definitely recommend selling the Limited as a private sale.

As an owner of 23 ORP I can say its super easy to replace the garbage skid plate (engine only) and put on some after market plates such as RCI (what I did). As glwood54 pointed out, the Pro probably needs a spendy suspension rebuild sooner than later so I'd definitely lean towards the ORP. And yes, Lunar Rock color is the bomb as that's what prompted me to get a 23 and not wait on a 24 as it was discontinued. Good luck.

TRD Pro looks nicer in my opinion, but its roof rack was no go for me. It's hard to put anything long on that rack and it doesn't fit in some garages and some indoor parking. Also TRD Pro has speakers at the side of the trunk where TRD Off-road has storage space. My TRD Off-road came with KDSS - rumors are that it lives longer than Fox shocks on TRD Pro. I think that's about all differences at least noticeable ones.

Why not take a portion of the $23K you would spend on a newer 4R and instead turn yours into what you want it to be. It's already very capable off-road, and with some mods (like less than $10K) you could have a very well kitted out 4Runner. There are soooo many aftermarket options available to you. But, you spend YOUR money how you want to. You asked for input, and that's mine.
