Question on extended warranty-

Hi- has anyone bought extended warranty from a different toyota dealer than the dealer you purchased the car from. this is used 2021 4runner with 58k miles.
here the question- i am closing on the car later today,
if a find a dealer that gives a better deal than my closing dealer (ie, i want to purchase vsa from dealer2), can i buy the vsa from dealer2 before i close on the car, or do i have to buy car, turn down vsa from dealer1 and then caller dealer2 to buy the vsa. thanks for help. plz reply before 2pm EST today if possible paul

 

thanks for this! yes- i have a call into him now. my question is on timing. do you know if i can still buy from jerry after my closing? the vsa terms state that i have to buy it at time of closing. thanks for the help

I thought it was up until the factory warranty expires.

 

This, as long as its still under factory warranty you can add it. From any Toyota dealer, you don't have to buy from the dealer you purchase the truck from (so ignore them when they try to tell you that).

 

2021 venture- i have read that also but there is also language ontoyota site that states vsa gold and platinum plans can be sold on certified cars up to 8 years old or 85k miles. 4runner i am buying is well under those limits so i think i am elegible. hopefully i can get thru to Jerry before 2 EST and then i will be sure. thx for reply!

 

update- i was off a bit its 6 years old & 85k. it does state TCUV gold so that may mean i cant buy a platinum plan but that ok. gold plan is still pretty good.

Yes, I have a platinum extended warranty that I purchased through Jerry, on both our 4Runner and Tacoma. For new vehicles, your vehicle must still be under the manufacturer's warranty (3 years, 36,000 miles) in order to qualify.

So I would like to know. If I was to buy lets say a 24 runner with like 2k miles in 2025 from a Kia dealer would I still be able to get a platinum warranty from Jerry? or does it have to be a certified used vehicle.

 

My understanding you can buy the extended warranty as long as factory warranty still active.

 

i agree with 2021 venture. even tho kia may be selling it to you as used. your car is still under factory warranty so your limits are 3 years or 36000 miles and are within both limits.

 

update- i contacted Jerry- he only does contracts for new cars. he said i needed to buy from a dealer in South Carolina. i want to buy aToyota warranty Gold plan.

Tons of after purchase extended warranties for used. Not that a 4R needs it.

What happened to the 10 phone calls a day i would get offering extended warranties for your car..... Now that someone finally needs it they stopped....

 

i hear you but in my eperience those calls werent for Toyota contracts they were all 3rd party and expensive i also agree with you that maybe 4runners dont really need it. this is my first one but i know loads of people that have them and they are built to last! i am only go to buy one if the price is right. thanks for replying. paul
