I was driving next to a LC in heritage blue with light gray roof this morning. That color combination looks great in person.

I'm sure CR will block my comment.

    Keyword here is "predicted."

12 vehicles out of however many have been sold in the first-year of a brand-new vehicle is a nothing-burger.

The true test is if it continues and requires big fixes - is it a fundamental issue or just a teething issue?

Honda recalled ~250,000 3.5L V6's from the past several years for a potential crankshaft defect and estimates the issue affects 1%. Even 2,500 estimated affected V6's here plus 1,450 warranty fixes prior isn't a huge blip in the reputation of that engine.

If it turns into a Hyundai/Kia Theta II (2.4, 2.0) scale fiasco and people post on LC forums like folks do on Kia-Forums: "looks like it was my turn for engine failure" - then we know for sure Toyota's lost the plot. Until then, I'll give them some rope.

That’s how the Tundra engine issues started out. It was just a few. Now it’s all of them.

I don't think that has much bearing on whether "all" 2024 Land Cruisers are going to keel over.

The question still becomes whether it's a teething issue or a fundamental one* and we'll have to wait on both counts to see.

*Fundamental is on two levels here: the design of the engine itself and/or Toyota itself (where the V6-Turbo snafu becomes relevant)

How do you know either way? They haven’t been on the road very long. I’m not willing to take the risk in buying one anytime soon.

that's just one forum, not every new "LC" buyer is going to sign up for that particular forum and share their stats.

The tendency to use number of reported issues on one forum to dismiss and wave away the problem is something I expect from Stellantis or Ford buyers.

We don’t, my point is that 12 isn’t enough to call CR bad at predicting and the 2.4 isn’t the same as the 3.4.

Just learned something new (since I was searching little more to help one of my friend to buy a Land Cruiser)

Many made in the Hino Motors factory in Hamura Tokyo JP.

Thanks for sharing that... I rented a 2020 armada(in 2020). And it was a perfect road trip suv(other then the mpg lol which I think I got 20ish over 2400 miles). It's a big comfy suv and it does 0-60 in less then 6 second and awd burnouts. I enjoyed it very much.

I received an email with a price drop for a new LC. That was quick. They must not be selling too great. Hopefully these prices keep dropping and we get back to some normalcy.

Every new vehicle model takes some getting used to, but man does that front end scream LEGOland.
