We had a free rental coming from Enterprise, I told them I needed a suv big enough to seat 6 adults comfortably so they gave me a Grand Wagoneer with 3200 miles. Tons of room, lots of electronics, decent to drive. The truck already has rattles and rides rough. We felt every bump. My 4RUNNER rides just as good and has zero rattles. I expected more out of a $125k vehicle.

Jeeps would be great… if Toyota made them. The Wranglers are cool and incredibly capable, the Grand Cherokees have been great looking and comfortable trucks since the early 2000s; the new Grand Wagoneer is good looking… they’re all just such piles of s**t.

It took owning 9 or 10 Jeeps for me see the (Toyota) light. I’m still in recovery.

Rented a Grand Cherokee this year when I went to Yellowstone and I was really disappointed. At one point we went on a lightly rocky road (similar to a forest road) and it felt extremely bumpy and unpleasant despite going very slow. The 4R is light years softer and absorbs the terrain a lot better (maybe stock fox shocks have something to do with that despite being far from the best on the market)

There were 2-3 things that I liked better from the GC though. The radar cruise is much smoother, camera quality much better, the center console has two separate compartments and climate control for rear passengers.
But we know the 4Runner is years behind in terms of creature comforts. The 6th gen will fix some of these issues, but at the expense of a new (less reliable?) engine

How was it other than the rattles? Would you buy it if it wasn’t so expensive?

I think the newer GC is designed for the street and not much for offroad. It’s definitely a pretty nice ride on street. It blows the 4Runner away in comfort.

I had an 04 JGC that I loved, even though it was unibody. Solid front and rear axles, rock rails and skids from factory, full time 4x4, v8, and some of the initial technologies like seat heaters, auto wipers, auto headlights, etc. I loved it. Wanted to buy a new one with no miles but they had moved to another gen with IFS. I held off until 2017 and bought a 2014 with front and rear idenpendent suspension, radar cruise and braking, air suspension and all the other fluff. It's been a train wreck and I'll never own another jeep. It's fine on the road (when something is not broken) but left its off road chops long ago. I can only imagine the overpriced grand wagoneer is designed the same way

On the Wrangler it is pretty cool that you can get one from the factory with 4:88’s, front and rear lockers, and 35” tires.

Like Manhattan said "Jeeps would be great… if Toyota made them", so no, I wouldn't buy one. I expect a car to be completely quiet , especially with less than 4000 miles.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
It's a Jeep, you should have expected it to ride like a base model 1987 Wrangler. They wanted to slap a lot of screens in it and jack up the price, but didn't mess with the suspension or reliability of the engine. These things have been rotting on dealer lots for over a year.

Stellantis are insane to charge these MSRPs for low-quality products they manufacture. All signs point toward bankruptcy, the next owner of Jeep brand will have a lot of mess to clean up.

The Grand Wagoneer is 50+ years and $100,000 bucks worth of collaborative engineering by AMC, Renault, Chrysler, Benz, and Fiat. What could possibly go wrong?

After 3000 hard rental miles, we should applaud that the wheels didn’t fall off before you returned it.
