Here's what I can tell you about the stealthbox. I had all my speakers replaced. Balanced. Sound deadening. Amps, the works, and the stealthbox. It's was lot better/louder in the Taco. It's good but not great BUT where it fits in and because bad guys can't see it I'd recommend it, it's a shame you can't have 2 of them, one on either side.

Rob, Is your plan just to add the JL sub and Amp? Leave the oem speakers alone. I may go that route when I get my new 4runner. Knowing from having my 2020 AG pro the JBL sub needs more bottom end to fill out the oem speakers.

Hey Don, I installed the JL stealthbox, all new speakers (not the rear hatch....I don't need), an LCQ-1 to convert and correct signal from factory head unit and a Rockford Fosgate 5 channel amp. I am very pleased with the results.

So it’s not that great? I’m getting the impression you aren’t impressed. Forgive me if I missed it, but how many watts are you feeding it?

Hey, sorry to buy in the conversation but can you tell me more about the Stealthbox? I currently have a JL Audio 5 channel, and I installed a 8 inch JL w1v3 in the factory enclosure. My 2016 SR5 didn’t come with JBL, but I managed to get ahold of the JBL sub box to bolt in.
Anyway, for a 150 watt sub, it does well. But I want more. Lol! My amp can throw 500 watts on the sub channel

The stealth box is no different than what I added to my C7 Z06. I added Rockford Fosgate powered sub and what a difference because my 1LZ does not come with a sub. I plan on down the road to add stealth box to my 23 Pro and that’s its. The factory JBL does not put enough bottom end out.

Don't get me wrong, with what I paid for, it sounds fucking phenomenal. BLAM speakers and amps. But some expect it to be turning heads going down the road. Inside the cab it's the sweetest orchestra imaginable. and well hidden.

You know as long as you are happy with the results, That is all that matters at the end of the day.

I have had several systems that absolutely floored me with the overall sound and I still had several people comment about spacial sound and propagation and i was like WTF.

Not trying to document the history of music in this mofo, just trying to get a sweet tone for my vibe.

    The dude abides...

Nice!! That’s precisely what I’m looking for. The 8 inch W1 JL sub isn’t cutting it for me, I need more than just 150 watts of sub. I didn’t think that one out. Lol! Really appreciate the feedback man! Thank you for getting back to me so quick

Right on! I must’ve misread your original post. I thought you already had the Stealthbox in your 4Runner. Either way, glad to hear Stealthbox in your other one sounds great!

I got the 4Runner Stealthbox from JL coming on Monday! I’m stoked! I’m not excited on installing it, but I’ve already taken it apart once to do the factory enclosure before. This should be a huge step up for the lows! Can’t wait!

Please post how it sounds! Are you doing sound deadening around that area? Also what amp are you going to use? Thanks

Hey Rus, I actually did do the sound deadening in that area using Kilmat(I think that’s how you spell it) Good stuff, doesn’t smell like road tar. Lol!
I’m already running a 5 channel JL Audio RD900/5. The dedicated sub channel on that amp can do 500 watts at 2 ohms, which is perfect for the 10TW3 sub in the Stealthbox. I’ll just adjust the gain a little to feed it the 400 watts that it’s rated for. Maybe even 375 just to be safe.
I got the Stealthbox brand new and shipped for $1275 from Creative Audio. Awesome deal, plus they are an authorized dealer. I actually emailed them asking if they had any open boxes for cheaper. They just offered me a better price.
I’ll definitely let you know how it goes, and probably make a video since there’s not one on the entire internet.

Still very happy with mine. Sent a xmas card to the install shop thanking them. Stock head unit using sirius, volume from 1 to 25 [loud enough I think the warranty is about to expire (conversations stop around 17)] sounds phenomenal. But remember, the amp is half of it.

Thank you for the reply and update man! Really glad to hear everything’s still sounding good! The JL amp I got will be a perfect match, but those BLAM amps sound interesting. Their speakers do too.

Bump... Considering going this route, but hoping the price for performance will be worth it. I do like how well hidden it is. Any other member's can shoot me a PM on their experience with the sub? I appreciate it.

I had one of the original JL stealth boxes in my Expedition to save space. It was a good filler for lows but nowhere near the sound quality and capability of a separate box and amp. So i got a Box and amp for when i didn't need to save space and would switch as needed.

Pondering getting one again, but my front 6x9's components have some pretty good range.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

I don't have it, but that $1700 price is stopping me from moving forward with buying it/installing it. I have heard them in other 4Runners and they do sound really nice. Do I think it's $1700-nice? No. But that's my opinion. I can be kind of a cheap-ass.

If this was like $999, then sure. I'd pull the trigger and get it. I have the Trail Grid Pro - Kicker setup in my 4Runner and the bass is very nice.

A box just sitting in the cargo area will sound better but then it looks like crap and takes up space. I want to swap my dual OEM Audio + subs for one of these.

Just add a 10 powered subwoofer box in the back. A lot cheaper and easy to remove if need to. I could not justify the price of the stealth box.

I've been thinking about doing this too. But I reaaaaaaaaaaaally like the look of the stealth box. I want to keep an OEM look for my audio setup. Sure, I can add 2 or even 4 10 inch subs back there for one-third the cost of the JBL Stealth Box.

But it's bulky. It takes up space for stuff I want to store/haul. It can be seen by anyone looking inside my rear window (a thief my see it and decide to steal it because it's readily available).

I had one, and was lucky enough to return it for a refund after my return period was up. The 10 inch TW3 that comes in the Stealthbox has a great sound to it. That was the positive.

But the output was a huge disappointment. I was running off a nice JL Audio RD amp, set it to a clean signal with a -3db attenuated test tone to squeeze as much clean power to it as I could but it just wasn’t enough. This part is subjective of course, but I can tell you that when you hear it, for the money, you will feel like it wasn’t money well spent.
I remember my brother sitting in the back seat and asked if I even had a subwoofer back there.

I then bought a JBL Club 1200P which is the newly designed 12 inch Club subwoofer that comes in a nice JBL built ported box. It blew the Stealthbox out of the water, sounded just as good and cost $350. Yes, I lost some cabin space compared to the Stealthbox, but I could easily remove it if needed. And it can be placed in the down firing position. This surprisingly wasn’t one of those, you get what you pay for. It was more like, I spent a quarter of the price and got triple the performance. At least with that JBL.

I got that Stealthbox from Creative Audio. They are an authorized JL dealer and can’t recommend them enough. For one, you can email them on anything they sell, and they’ll give you a better price listed. I got the 4Runner Stealthbox brand new for $1250 shipped. Secondly, after 4 months of having it, they not only took it back and gave me a full refund, they even paid for shipping back. And unlike Crutchfield, they won’t charge you a restocking fee. I write this because I was super bummed on dropping over a thousand dollars and wasn’t happy. Thought I was gonna have to sell it used at a huge loss. So it was cool that they went above and beyond to take care of me.

    Hope this all helps.

I agree I would have rather had the stealth box but with my dog cover the whole back you cannot tell there is something under the cover cause the box is not really that big. I already rested something on it when I loaded up the back and no big deal. Also I have dumped a lot of money over the years on some awesome sound systems in my Toyota’s. Even my owner of the audio store and installer they could have pushed that stealth box but both were like just add a box. They do so many installs with just adding a sub box.

Well, I found a good deal on a used one on Facebook Market Place (had to check outside of my area to find it)... $925 shipped. I'm going to give this a shot for now. Figure if I change my mind, I should be able to re-coup most of what I spent on it... Not paying full price makes me feel better about the whole thing. Although a risk, I'm going to try to find used components for the rest of my build to help save a little.

I have this one for sale for $300, it is a custom made SQ box with 10" subwoofer, handles 300 watts, and fits the opening in the passengers side. Top notch quality, and fraction of the cost of the Stealthbox. Good condition and no issues other than some scuffs. Located in Middle TN. Willing to negotiate, and willing to ship (at your cost). Let me know. Thanks!

anyone have any XP with this DS18 enclosure? I just bought this, open-box, on eBay yesterday..I couldn't stomach the $1500 for JL Audio, and I really like the look of this one (and I really don't care about the LED crap, but might install anyways). I believe its a 700w 12" sub, so it's the best of both worlds for my needs. I'm so tired of moving my other sub box in my other 'runner when I need to throw pinball machines in it, so this solves it for my new '21 TRD Premium. Thoughts? BTW these are $1500 NIB.
