I was looking for some ideas that others may have come up with for securing the Toyota accessory 4 Runner cooler. I do not have the rear slide out feature.

I don't have a cooler. Yours came with a cooler? Why didn't I get a cooler? Do you think my sales guy kept it for himself?

    Got pics?

It’s a Toyota accessory that has to be ordered. It’s not included on all models.

Pack your camping gear around it to hold it in place, or use the rings on each side and some straps to keep it.

This is what I do when I run a cooler or two.

It's very important to pack stuff around it. Especially if you spend hours on dirt roads or it will wear into your plastics and your wife will get upset with you for ruining the car the day after you bought it.

You'll then tell her you'll buy her one just for herself so she can fuck that one up and you can fuck yours up but that's a bluff.

At this point every time I pack up, I see the plastic and say too late now, thankfully I care about it more than the wife. But it does suck, so I pack it full so I can’t see the scratches and off we go.

I'll bring a few towels. Sometimes draping it over the cooler or folding it several times to use as a pad between plastics. And then I have extra towels just in case. Good to have a towel.

Interesting. Looks like the mounting bracket kit is available. I may waste the money on it for tying down my non-Toyota cooler just because.

Which front hitch do you have?

I just bought some Performax™ 6' x 1" Green Cambuckle Tie Down Straps - 2 Pack at Menards and they work great for securing my cooler and pelican case using the rear D rings. Been on quite a few trials and they stay where I put them. I doubt they would prevent movement in a catastrophic accident, but better than nothing. It would at least slow them down!

I'm sure Home Depot or Lowe's has a comparable product if you don't have a Menards.

That's what I had been looking at. Thank you.
