    Hi

I've got a 2007 SR5 4x4 and am thinking of replacing the stock headlight bulbs (high and low beams) and fog lights with Auxito LEDs using the existing stock headlight assemblies. Any experiences with this and also would you recommend the versions with fans or fanless models?

I was thinking of perhaps fan version (more expensive) for the mostly used low beams and fogs and maybe the fanless version for the high beams which aren't used as much.

    Thanks for any opinions!

Surprised at no responses. Heat is never your friend so I would go fans.

If you haven’t bought any yet and it’s ever foggy where you live, check out the Boslla B4 Bullet. They’re pretty cool and I’ve had them for a couple of years with no issues.

Thanks Bluesky, I ordered them from Auxito but it hasn't shipped yet so I'll check the Boslla B4 bullet as well. Thanks for your input.

I live in a 1950’s era state that prevents any upgrades to headlights due to State Inspection requirements. I swear the State Police in Virginia has not modified or updated their standards to be up to date with today’s technology…….

I'd consider the morinoto 2-stroke (fanned version) for low beams and some OSRAM laser 100w halogens for your high beams...There's a sale going on the morimoto stuff and they're incredible bulbs, though more money than halogens. The OSRAM are also incredible bulbs... consider relating your headlight harness and that alone will make your current bulbs 80% better light output... the factory wires prefer not having a lot of voltage through them and should really only be used for the trigger on/off...

On Tacomaworld there is a very popular upgrade called "The Ultimate Headlight Upgrade" that upgrades the wiring harness for the headlights with more powerful OEM type bulbs. I've done it on my 2014 Tacoma and it is night and day better. Its a kit someone makes, very easy to install. I should look to see if they do something similar for the 4th Gen 4runners.

Well i kind of forgot to look back into this until this morning. So "Headlight Services" makes the harness for the 1995-2002 4runners, not our 4th gens. Bummer!

I suppose the $10 ones on ebay can be re-harnessed with the "right" bub connections...I sure .iss the days of the pre-made harnesses that worked! Thanks for checking!!

Before you switch to LED, be aware of an issue I learned about a couple of years ago and forgot until it recently happened to me on vacation 1200 miles from home. It sounds crazy, but aftermarket LED bulb fans can trigger a phantom fault in the ABS system, resulting in panel lights and codes. Toyota even issued a technical service bulletin about it that covers 5th Gens but it can happen in 4th Gens as well. explains.

I've always run the fan less bulbs because I hate hearing those things.

Never really had any issues so far.

Moral of the story per reading up on the fun folks have experienced, if you're not spending $100 per bulb minimum, and they have fans, you're likely to run into issues with dash lights. If you choose to run a higher-end fanless bulb, you are also likely to be "good to go." I'm throwing in my brand new Morimoto 2Stroke 4.0 bulbs and I'll report back on my findings...I use the headlights all the time so it shouldn't take too long to figure out!

Yes, and it’s a bummer. I’ve read opinions where people say halogens are really better because that’s what these trucks were designed for. I put in Silverstar Ultra halogens when this issue occurred a couple of weeks ago and they look absolutely yellow compared to the LEDs.

No doubt, they do...along with the peripheral light...SO dim compared to the LEDs! I've used the OSRAM Nightbreakers in my high beams and they're relayed and though they are less white, they throw some light and are incredible...If you're going to rock halogens, which is totally fine, I highly suggest making or buying a relayed headlight harness. Depending on the bulbs used, you can boast 60-80% brighter lights from the halogens and the only wires you're using from the factory harness is to trigger the light on or off off the stalk. Well worth the consideration!
