I am approaching 100k and I am thinking of upgrading my Shocks (Springs?). Something really good but not overboard.

I am not looking to level it, or really lift it. But it seems most better shock options (Bilstein 5100) are more for leveling. I wouldn't mind an inch or lift since i off road, but i don't want to mess too much since i have KDSS.

    Any thoughts?

Bilstein 5100's are a good choice even at stock height and will not break the bank. The more you increase the lift on them, the worse the ride will become. I used 5100's at stock height on my Nissan Titan and they rode well.

If ride quality is in your list I can tell Ironman FCP has a better ride than Bilstien 5100. But I think lowest set on Ironman FCP is 2in front. I'm not sure if rear can be 0 lift. I used their 1.5in lift spring.

I've heard Ironman FCP is made in China, so I'm not sure if they last long as Bilstiens.

Budget option: Eibach adjustable shocks ride better than Bilstein 5100, IMO.

Mid-grade option: Bilstein 6112's. Almost everyone says they ride much better than the 5100's.

Both these have adjustable height options in the front. For the rear you will need either a lift coil or a spacer. Lift coils start at a 1" height increase. Spacers have smaller lift heights.

Mine has Bilstein 6112s up front with about 1.85 lift to level a bit. I took out the factory springs in the front and went with Toytec Lifts coilovers... (done pre-covid0.

Another vote for Eibach. I went with .85 up front for a bit of leveling, with no lift in the rear. Works for me.

I've run Bilstein 5100's on two Tacomas and Eibachs on my 4runner. I prefer the Eibachs.

Thanks guys, i'll look into Eibach as well and I like the idea of adjustable if they will last. But there are soooo many to choose from Eibach... lol

I was leaning towards 6112's but they had a minimum .7 lift in the front which is okay if need be.

    Should I replace springs?

If you go the Eibach route, all you need are the adjustable shocks. You choose the lift height. No need for an aftermarket coil unless you want one or you feel your stock ones are worn.

With 6112's, you need special Bilstein coils that fit those larger shock bodies.

Which ones did you go with?

Didn't see adjustable ones. They have so many options.

    These? https://eibach.com/product/E86-82-071-05-22?epsid=2000

Looks like they will lift a min of 2" which is probably too much for my KDSS. Wonder if they can have 0 lift?

Here's the shock I'm talking about for the front. To be used with your stock coils. Lift height options are 0, 0.85", 1.6", or 2.5". They sell them as singles so you will need 2 of them, obviously.

For the front, I went with the shocks linked by @nimby in post #11. These can be set from 0" lift to 2.5" lift, depending on the snap ring slot chosen.

For the rear, I went with 2 of these, which can accommodate up to 2" of lift, but I chose to leave the rear at stock height:

    https://eibach.com/product/E60-82-008-02-01?epsid=2000

The linked Eibach setup you provided is a complete lift set of springs and shocks for lifting a 4R the amount specified on that web page.

Perfect, thank you for the links. They are cheap in comparison too.

I liked the idea of a shock with reservoir but its not really needed i guess.
