Icon Delta Joint tubular Upper control arm

Hello, I recently installed icon delta joint tubular upper control arms. Does anyone know roughly how much it will cost me to have the UCA maintained/greased? I would like to get it done at toyota when i get my oil change but if its too expensive, i am open to taking it elsewhere. Thanks!

 

It's just a grease zerk. If you just installed the control arms certainly you're able to reach your hand in there and grease it in 30 seconds.

 

I am able to grease the delta joint but dont want to do the bushings. I think id need to lift the vehicle, remove wheels, and loosen the bushings which i don’t want to do. The delta joint is simple though

 

What lubricant does Icon recommend for their upper control arms? Have any pics of the zerk fittings installed on your rig?

 

Do you trust the dealership? I think I’d rather just do it myself. Would it be too much? I think it would be.

 

That's not something I would ask a dealer to do.

First, they're not familiar with the aftermarket part and they may not do it correctly.

Two, they may not even want to touch it at all for liability's sake since it's not an OEM part.

Also, those ucas sound like a PITA, lol. Personally, I don't think those fancy joints are worth the extra maintenance. I think your best bet is to find an off-road shop that is familiar with them.

 

You installed or a shop did?

If you can't change your own oil/do your own maintenance, you shouldn't be modifying your vehicle.

Toyota is more than likely not going to service an aftermarket part. Get a grease gun and do it yourself.

 

The bushings are supposed to also have a zerk fitting

 

The Icon page does show zerks for the bushings, apparently they have to be installed after the fact.

 

You don't need to remove the tire to grease the bushings.

I used to do mine with the tire on. You need to torque the control arm while back on the ground anyways. Torquing it is harder than greasing because the tire is in the way.

Honestly a shop should do it in 10 - 15 min max.
