Is this an option? I want to make my 2023 4Runner as analog as possible.

Theoretically, but it'd be easiest to go buy a 2019MY model.

    A compromise might be to:
    - Set PCS to lowest sensitivity (will turn on each start but retains settings)
    - Turn off lane keeping alert, this setting is permanent.

I don't know about the others like rear-cross-traffic-alert and blind-spot monitoring.

Holding the cruise-on button will revert you to normal "dumb" cruise control - I use this a lot personally.

    Welcome to the forum.

In a short answer no. Secondary answer, Yes, would entail retrofitting an entire Pre TSS system into your rig. Could be done but the cost to completely enable would be extensive.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
This is exactly what I do; especially holding down the cruise control button. To hell with that radar crap.

For RCTA, I keep it on...even the beeping. The SloRunner has huge blind spots when I reverse, so the beeps help. I still check over my shoulder, I check the side mirrors and my rear cam. The BSM; I turn off audible alerts but keep the visual alerts so the outside mirrors let me know if a car is approaching my blind spot. It has given me false-positives, but it's rare.

This actually saved my life the other day. I was driving to work very early (still dark) and some jack-ass drove up along side me with NO HEADLIGHTS ON. The BSM visual alert saved me from a huge accident.

I have all other nannies turned off or turned on low, so they don't pop up all the time. One thing I cannot change but wish I could: The auto-braking. You know the one that pops up with "BRAKE!" on the dash if someone cuts you off and you get to close. It brakes a little too hard for my tastes.

You'd have to trade it in for an older model. TSS is mass market technology by today's standards. Even the 70-series Land Cruiser sold in foreign markets gets TSS. Manual crank windows and lane departure alert in the same vehicle

Are you removing the airbags too? Don't want no computer to decide when to detonate explosives in ya face?

You can disable the tss with software easily. Some dealers will even do it for you.

TSS itself doesn't have anything to do with the gubbamint other than its joint preference with insurance companies for incentivizing/mandating safer vehicles. OP just doesn’t want the bells-and-whistles.

Don’t forget to call in and have your cellular connection disabled OP.

Yeah, i read the story about a guy who had his daughter get in his vehicle (toyota) and her phone linked to radio for music, and she was the only phone detected in the car, and his insurance sent him a new plan since she (daughter) was driving his vehicle. The insurance company automatically added the daughter to the plan which increased premiums, without the guy ever calling in and saying anything or changing anything. If you really wanna get into conspiracy theory stuff (which i wont) you can do some research on vehicles being hacked in order to force them to crash. This is the same way most planes crash, there is usually someone in the car, or on board the plane that the gobbermint needs 86'd. Its the same reason all the older computer systems are constantly being outdated which forces you to upgrade. The upgrades have more and more ways for the gobbermint to spy, collect data, ect. This is just the way of the world these days and its becoming harder and harder to get out from under the thumb of said gobbermint.

If I didn't have TSS on my 2021 I would have a worry free experience not seeing warnings on dash for no apparent reason. I've also had experience automatic braking kick in when I try to turn quickly and I pray the person behind me doesn't rear end me.

TSS itself is an offline, self-contained system and irrelevant to your point.

You want to kill the cellular connection instead.

Other though that came to mind: OP, if you’re worried about repair costs for TSS, I don’t think we’ve seen a clean hardware removal.

I am pretty sure my wife went thru her new 2023 and turned all that off or on its lowest setting. She spent like 2 hours in the vehicle over 2 days with the manual and pressing buttons on the dash and cluster and steering wheel programming things "her way" and i drive it every now and again and dont seem to have any of the problems most people complain about.
Matter of fact, sometimes the backup sensors dont seem to work at all. Most times it beeps when something is behind you and sometimes it doesnt.... Its kinda weird if you are relying on those beepers to keep you from backing into something and you about back into something cause they didnt beep at all.

I don't know but some have claimed that it's required when installing a lift kit. And allegedly the only way to reactivate it is to buy a new radar head. So be aware that what you're proposing is doable but also not cheap. You can also buy techstream and do it yourself.
