This is my first Rig I’ve ever owned. I’m still stoked since the day I picked her up from Toyota. Just like most people I started with Bilstein 5100 JBA UCA 35” tires is all I’m doing yada yada yada. A year later ditched KDSS went long travel and 37’s. So far I have the LT and 2.5 C/O on the rig and I’ve just been collecting parts and might be switching things up as far as front suspension. Let’s keep it plain and simple, I am not happy with it. I haven’t decided yet which LT I’m going with.

    Haha yessir.

I finally ordered some molle panels and a remote start. I also finally decided to mount my OEM audio subs since they like to pop out.

I’m not sure why one of my sub boxes wasn’t drilled for a mounting point (driver side). It’s not a big deal so I hit up OEM audio for some mounting hardware and the fact I had to pay for it bothered me. Again I let it slide since the hardware doesn’t really cost much. Fast forward got the mounting hardware and I did not like it so I went to homedepot and got some more hardware. I should have just gotten all the hardware from homedepot but whatever it’s too late for that let’s just get this over with.

This is what OEM audio provide you. I feel like from hitting bumps over time it will mess up your sub box.
    IMG_2129.jpg

This is what I got from homedepot.
Rubber washers, washers, nylon lock nuts, a m6-1.0 50mm bolt cut the head off and I used a rev lock paint marker and applied it on top of the bolt to mark the bottom of the box then drilled a hole using a 15/16 drill bit. Then I used the OEM audio headless set screw I applied a blue loctite placed a washer then a nylon locking nut. Then another nylon locking nut and another nut that OEM audio provided a washer and a rubber washer for the sub box to sit on top of.

    IMG_2130.jpgIMG_2133.jpgIMG_2134.jpgIMG_2135.jpg

I use these type of loctite for my suspension. Don’t use the red one unless you don’t plan on taking the bolt off ever. But I use the red loctite for the lower ball joint bolts. It gives me a peace of mind when I take my rig out in the trail since those lower ball joint bolts like to back out. When you have to take them off just pre heat it before taking them off. If they break and used the red loctite you’re F’d lol
    IMG_2136.jpg IMG_2137.jpg
    IMG_2142.jpg

I had some of these Velcro strips from when I mounted my pedal commander and it works pretty good so I added two strips under the sub box where it sits in the wheel well cubby
    IMG_2138.jpg IMG_2139.jpg IMG_2141.jpg
I removed the sub to access inside the box to place the rubber washer then steel washer and wing nut (I also used blue loctite on the wing nut)
    IMG_2140.jpg
    IMG_2143.jpg

I did the same to the passenger side except I didn’t have to drill the box.

I went with OEM audio because I don’t like too much bass, I don’t want it to be obnoxiously loud. Although for a 2500-3k system I shouldn’t have to modify it and it should come with better mounting hardware.

Took the Kdss switch out and installed the ABS switch. (If anyone is still rocking KDSS I have DR.KDSS harness and switch for sale :)) I also recommend the ABS switch.

Oh and Posi-tap for the win!!! T-tap sucks.

Rago fabrication Molle panels came in today and I also picked up some D rings from Toyota. I’m planning to slap some baja designs dome light on since it has a mounting spot for it.

Pretty sweet...what do you store back there? Just curious. Not a massive overlander per se, however as a fisherman, always good to get ideas.

I just have a Noco battery booster and soft shackles mounted on it for now. Eventually I want to add a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, and some other bits.

Looking forward to the build. Just picked up a 2019 OffRoad. It’s stock for now. Putting a leveling kit on 2/1 Cornfed kit this week. But it’s temp. What would you recommend for the tallest that Offroads well. This is a daily but I work from home so I don’t drive a lot.

I definitely want new rims and 35s. Guessing I’ll have to do a BMC. Which kit you recommend? Or just cut patch and weld?

Depending on what you like to do.
But honestly if you plan on changing it later on for a mid travel or LT just save your money and don’t waste on leveling kits. Total chaos makes good kits, I like the Marlin crawler as well for mid travel. If I end up changing my front suspension which I probably will after I get the rear all dialed in. I would go with solo motorsports. As far as BMC. I wouldn’t do a BMC I would go with BMR and it would be DRT fabrication which I have.

Yeah the leveling kit I got is 178. So it’s nothing. I’m def interested in spending a chunk in the future on a RCLT kit. Prob 2.5 with radFlos. That’s gonna be over 10k. Nice I had a DRT BMC I installed myself on my 3rd gen taco a few years back.

For mid travel or for when I do the RCLT? I have used Elka & custom coilovers in the past. Decent
