I like the design of the stock SR5 wheels, but I don't like the color on my truck. I've blacked out badges, am about to paint my rack rails black too, and I'm toying with the idea of the stock wheels but in satin black. Anybody ever paint or coat or Cerakote or ???? theirs? How well does it wear, and how long will it last? Any pointers would be appreciated.

Plastidip is the lowest cost and least permanent if you want to try something out. Powdercoating would probably be the way to do it "right"

Lots of people do and I'm sure there are multiple threads. I asked something similar last year, I'll find it for you.

About a year ago I was leaving the grocery store and noticed a parked SR5 in BR on the parking lot near me. I noticed the wheels were painted black. I took a closer look and they looked powder coated. Interesting the wheel lug nuts also looked powder coated but matched the body color.

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.
I painted mine with Rustoleum Gloss Black. Be sure to give them a good scuffing with a scotc hbrite pad then a degreaser. It takes a lot of time and patience to mask everything off too. 3 coats of paint, two clear. This pic was about 3 years later, now it's been almost 4 years and they are holding up well.Wheels after three years.jpg Clean at Atwater.jpg

After looking at the options and prices, as well as some pics -- I'm buying TRD Pro wheels rather than powdercoating. It's less hassle and the same money. :)

Yea, no. I like the look of the black. Besides, I like the design of them, as well as the +4 offset. I would like to find a blackout Toyota logo center cap for them though. I'll keep looking on that one.

    Anybody know of one offhand?

Can somebody tell me, other than center cap and some style details, what's different between the TRD Flow Form wheels and the TRD Pro wheels? Are those the only differences?
