First time posting here guys so thanks in advance. I have a 2018 4Runner limited with the JBL Entune sound system with navigation. I use my truck for work and I take a lot of calls so right now hands-free is impossible because of the blown speakers. The OEM replacements JBL8615035120 are stupid expensive and I’m afraid that they6951553B-7272-4EB3-A026-955CAD3A7F7B.jpg 6951553B-7272-4EB3-A026-955CAD3A7F7B.jpg D386B87B-BA38-4A10-B9E4-82337D7E723D.jpg won’t hold up any better than these did. Have any of you replaced this speaker with something other than OEM? I have scoured the Internet and although there are similar speakers for less money they don’t seem to work with my particular head unit. Any help you guys could offer would be greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance, TED

Good evening. I too have a 2018 Limited with the same problem. Passenger side dash speaker is blown and started looking at options. The options I’ve found require more time than I have now. A direct aftermarket replacement would be ideal if it exists. I’ll keep you posted if I come up with something but I’m thinking the fix for this will end up being the long route.

Yep, I hear you. Frankly I’ll replace the entire system before I pay north of $200 each for those cheap speakers. Hopefully someone on this forum will have some great advice so best of luck and thanks for reaching out.

JBL, right? Basically having the amp power everything limits or cancels your choices.

Yeah JBL setup in the 18 Limited really limits options. I don’t think the sound system was any good to begin with but don’t listen to anything but news or talk radio. It’s fine for that but taking calls or navigation directions are harsh on the ears especially with a blown speaker. I would probably be better off with a higher impedance aftermarket (lower volume) than what I have now. I can’t justify spending a grand to replace the system to listen to talk radio or take phone calls from people I don’t want to talk to anyway.

If anyone wants to send me postage pre-paid label box, I'll give you my Kicker/Subaru dash speakers. Don't have the pic/specs at hand but they are drop-in.

Neither choice works for the JBL system. It's been confirmed by members.

Yep. Nobody on here has ever swapped out the JBLs. :frustrated: The idea was to introduce you to the search function.

Uses the factory mounting bracket from your old speakers: https://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-Excelon-KFC-X2C-Toyata-Chevrolet/dp/B07XYCDWZV?ref_=ast_sto_dp
You don't use the high pass capacitors or wiring that comes with the Kenwood speakers - as the JBL system has active cross-overs.
These are the correct plug & play factory wiring adapters: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RMZ4CR6?ie=UTF8
I have done this on two Limited's -- easy peasy..

Can someone tell me are the dash speakers in a Limited JBL sound system model different than non limited model? I see these Subaru upgrade options but then I see some say they don’t work with the JBL system in the limited.

what exactly would I need? will these work?

Yes you can replace them with aftermarket speakers. Will they sound the same, no. Will the output level be the same, no. More times than not, replacing the stock JBL tweeter with an aftermarket speaker/tweeter will result in much louder output from the new aftermarket speaker as their sensitivity ratings are different-throwing off the balance.

See this thread-too much treble. Some may not care, but it may bother you.

Thanks - so do the Subaru speakers work with a Limited model? Because they can be pulled from the local junkyard for about $5. Versus the infinity ones which will run me $100 (CAD).

Not sure, others can chime in. If the impedance matches, for $5 give it a shot see if you like them.

The Subaru plug-n-play dash tweeters, if that is what you're referring to, do not work with the JBL system.

    Yes I am. Thank you.

mines a 2016 Limited if it matters. So if I go with 3.5” coaxial speakers and keep the rest stock it’s going to through the system off - am
    I understanding that correctly?

Yes it will. Go with the above listed $64 oem if you need a replacement.

Apparently it does for that part. Inputting 2016 Limited as the model says it fits.
