Selling my Tundra to my brother at an agreed upon price. My dad thinks this is way too much, so would like some input on pricing. I see KBB pricing retail $34-38k, trade in $32-34k. I see various websites like carsDOTcom listing similar mileage/model years at $38-41k

2020 SR5 double cab, 32k miles, title in hand, original owner, one minor claim (lady merged into me and I had side of bed repainted), has a few pricey modifications, no issues other than normal wear for a 4yr old truck

I was thinking $34k was fair

Sounds to me more like an interpersonal relationship question than valuing the truck, the brother’s opinion probably is a factor too.

We don’t know how the dynamic is, history, whether you, dad, brother, great-grandmother tends to be unreasonable or not and we’re all messy meatbags so whatever you think is best.

take it to a dealership and see what they offer for trade in, I think it’s fair to sell to family at trade value, why should you lose money because it’s family? Well, I’d say selling at trade value is losing money, so why should you lose more?

I think $28k is more fairer for your brother, but less fairer for you. $38k is more fairer for you, but less fairer for him.

    Low KBB seems fair.

This market is a bit crazy, with KBB and other sites not able to accurately account for market swings. I was thinking KBB was on the low side for a 5.7 tundra. For example, when we sold our vette, the KBB was like $13k, but the actual market price was around $21k.

Is low KBB retail or trade?

I just ran KBB and it says $43k.

If you selling it for $34k he shouldn't bitch on bit.

I sold my 19 Tundra 20k miles earlier this year for $41k. Listed and guy took it at my asking price. Guys around here asking $45+ for similar or older models which is nuts.

As long as your brother is good with the price, who cares what others think.
