oh my goodness!!! In need of serious advice. I purchased a used, VERY CLEAN, 5th gen, 2018 Toyota SR5 4x4 4Runner and she only had 5k miles, now at 11k miles I’ve been having problems with her starting. Everything lights up, battery tested good, it takes a few tries sometimes and then it starts. Has anyone heard of this?????

Sorry no help here with the actual issue mine's a few months old so no issues (yet.) if it's a 2018 with that kind of miles even used it should be under warranty I'd get it to a dealer.

11k miles and under warranty - dealer trip. Probably something simple, but who knows.

Sounds like a loose ground somewhere. If the battery test good I would check the ground connections coming off the battery

So apparently the key fob was not programmed correctly for “Blanca”.

Were you given an explanation for why this started being a problem after you drove the car for 6000 miles?

So I don't understand they said something was wrong with the programming of the fob? That sounds strange unless you inadvertently changed some program or something and didn't realize it but that still sounds strange for a starting issue. I'd maybe do a little investigation work where you got the vehicle from. If it had 5,000 miles on it was it a managers demo driver or did someone else put 5,000 on it and trade it in because of this issue? You'll of course never be told the latter but again sounds strange.

Here’s the issue, I bought it used with 5k miles. They gave me two keys. I’ve been using the one without the Toyota emblem on it. The spare key wasn’t programmed correctly, I’m sure the used car dealership I bought it from tried to program it, but did it incorrectly. I got a call last night that they would cover the cost of it getting programmed correctly by the Toyota dealership close by. I went home and now she starts just fine with the key that has the emblem. There’s a red lock light that wouldn’t stop blinking with the bad key, I put in the good key and it stops right away. I wasn’t even able to turn the steering wheel with the bad key. Just another smart feature. Still loving my 4Runner.

so the key they gave you , when you purchased the vehicle was not a toyota key ... that explains it.. more china crap on the cheap.. key fails quickly ...
aftermarket electronic devices many have had failures on china clone parts..

you should be good with the Toyota key..
