New 4Runner (07) owner, so after purchasing went through the usual tune-ups including flushing & refilling the coolant.

Unfortunately, I only drained the water out of the radiator + one of the engine block drains (not both) after flushing. Thus, since I refilled with Toyota 50/50 mix, my mix is something closer to 40/60 now after combining with remaining water in the engine. Not a big deal as I live in a warm climate (the mixture tested to be safe to -5 F), but was just wondering if there was a concentrated additive available yall would recommend to add to the system? Trying to use Toyota fluids as much as possible, but haven't seen anything other than 50/50 from them.

    Thanks!

Why not do a full flush to ensure nothing but Toyota pink is left in the system?

Could do that (again), but didn't want to sacrifice the existing coolant if there was another alternative.

If you're in a warm climate (where?) and you're testing to -5 then you're fine. I'm in Kentucky and a couple years ago it went down to -6 for a couple of days, otherwise we are closer to freezing most nights. The coolant will circulate and mix. I'd just keep an eye on the temps over the winter. If it's going to get really cold an incandescent 100 watt light bulb (NOT LED) will raise the temp a few degrees if you put it close to the radiator.

Texas panhandle… so I’m in the same boat as you, it only gets *really* cold a few times a year, it’s just those cold snaps that I’m looking out for.

I would say just keep an eye on the predicted lows and put a light bulb on the radiator if it's going to be close to what you're rated for. If it was me, I'd put a 100 watt incandescent bulb on the radiator around 5° and maybe put a moving blanket on the hood to hold the heat. (Unnecessary if it's parked in a garage)

I just did a semi flush on mine.. drained rad, filled back up, warmed engine and ran heater until i was sure the thermostat opened, drained rad again once was cooled down.. did this a third time but wasnt sure the rad had flushed out as the coolant that came out looked almost the same as i was putting in.. so likely buggered that one up. Piss poor way of doing things but seemed better to me than guessing ratios and ending up with a mystery mix... at least in this climate that sees -30 or so in the winter.

There's the Toyota Canada brew which is 55/45, P/N C0009-00120, probably not worth the expense.

The Peak brand has a concentrated Asian-vehicle coolant with claimed 15-year life that would be comparable to Toyota SLLC, commonly available: https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/PEAPAR0B3

Texas panhandle gets down to -5F (-15C)?

That's actually exactly what I did, ended up topping off with Peak brand concentrate to get mix closer to 50/50.
And yes, you can count on the Texas Panhandle getting down to 0F (-17C) a few times every year, and colder with wind chills (always windy here).
