I had a case of the needle bearing roar/vibration and was doing all the checks when I heard this. The NB noise mostly went away after engaging the 4WD about 10 times to test but this noise remains. I do engage 4WD periodically as recommended so was surprised to hear this so soon after a long offroad trip a couple weeks ago. I'm debating whether to take it in or put a bushing in, It's on a '23 with 12k miles so didn't want to risk having any warranty issues by putting a bushing in if there are other problems with the diff.

There are 2 members on here who recently posted videos of the exact same noise on their 4Runner. I'd have to search to find them.

I'd suggest editing your thread title to "Baseball card in spokes type noise in front differential" - that may bring them forward.

was a popular thing when I was a kid, mid 1940s, to attach a card with a clothes pin to a bicycle fender brace so the spokes would flap the card and make a similar sound.

I'm not sure how the front hubs lock, but could that be involved?

No locking hubs on a 4Runner, but there is a front axle disconnect actuator:

    I'm here.

Same exact noise but in my Tacoma. Same diff. Mine was a lot softer I was actually hunting down a clunk noise when going over bumps. Bearing seemed to fix the clunk too.

Did the needle bearing and noise is gone. You can take in for warranty but they will put the same shit back. For couple hundred $ you can fix it for good.

I can't speak for them but ECGS must of sold thousands of their bearings. I've yet to come across a thread where one of theirs failed.
