Quality brake kit?

I am in the same boat. I need to change the front brakes and rotors on my new to me 2006 V8 Sport Edition. I have been looking at a couple different options, one of which is a Surestop pad and rotor kit but it's available with two different rotor sizes. My question is what size rotor do I have, there seem to be two options 319mm and 338mm diameter. I have been trying to do my research on line but keep running into conflicting information. Any help will be appreciated.

By the way, I went to Advance Auto Parts website and entered my VIN but their site identifies my runner as an SR5 which it is not so I don't feel like I can trust what they recommend.

 

Try entering your VIN on a Toyota OEM site and see what part number it spits out. Then cross reference that to RockAuto.

 

Sport Edition has the larger 338mm front rotor. PowerStop makes a nice kit (Z36) but compare online prices on Toyota's parts site. I went all OEM last time (2022) for about the same as I would have spent on another PowerStop set. Parts list below for my '07 Sport but verify fitment for your vehicle by entering your VIN at parts.toyota.com.

Once you put in your zip code and find a part, the Toyota parts site will present a list of dealers in your area. Be sure to check pricing at each one. Some charge MSRP but others offer a significant discount for buying online and you can often get free shipping or just pick it up at the dealer parts department.

Other than price maybe, I don't know why people don't just stick with OEM. The pads are pretty beefy and the performance is great.

 

If you want to know for sure just measure the rotor, the 319mm is 12.5591 inches, so a tad over 12 1/2", the 338mm is 13.3071, so a tad less than 13 1/2", so there's just under 3/4" difference, so if you rotors are over 13" they're the 338mm, less than 13" they're the 319mm, easy way to get it right the first time!

That only the fronts, the rears are the same size for all 4th Gens.

 

I recently swapped out my seized rear calipers for powerstop. Much smoother and stronger braking.
