I bought my 1997 manual in 2005, back when I was still young and sturdy. The rear end was saggy so I went to a Valley Spring (in Phoenix) and had them install new longer, stiffer springs with a ~1.5" lift (it rode level with a full 7-day backcountry camping load: extra spare, extra gas cans, cooler, dogs, kids, wife, etc.). However, I am now in my 50s and I really feel that stiff rear end when I hit the speedbumps. I want to keep the lift (we still go camping), but I want to soften it to something closer to stock.

I see a lot of used springs on eBay, but if I want to keep my lift, what's the best combination for the OEM softer ride?

    Thanks!

Bilstein shocks ride nice. Put them on our 97 a few years ago along with OME springs, ride is very nice. I think those springs were 2 " lift.

Maybe talk to Valley Spring again. They may be able to offer a solution. Different wire thickness, fewer but wider wraps? Combination of those?

    Check out Dobinsons.

    They have "comfort" springs available.

Do you by chance have the info on the springs?

Ha - OK, I will track those down. 'Comfort', regrettably, is what I need!

ARB 2906, OME (old man emu), got them.on Amazon, paired with Bilstein 5100s. I am an old guy and I love the ride. Speed bumps are smooth...
