IMG_8852.jpg I recently inherited my 22 4R Off Road from my husband. I had a 21 Highlander but I traded it for a Tesla Model Y last year in an attempt to save money on gas. The Tesla is fast but I lost interest pretty quick. It’s very plain and not much can be done to personalize it. I have always loved his 4R and always had a blast driving it (especially through the mud). My 4R envy was getting worse by the day.

My husband really likes the Tesla, especially how fast it is. After several discussions, we decided it made financial sense to swap. His commute to work is longer than mine and I actually get paid to drive for my job so the gas is no issue for me.

When he got the 4R new in 22, he replaced the stock tires with KO2s as soon as he drove it off the lot. He added the TRD front skid plate and only did a 2” spacer lift because he dumped all his money in the stereo. I don’t know what kind of speakers and head unit he had installed but there is NOTHING stock left in the stereo. He also added some speakers to create immersive sound similar to the Tesla. Then he Dynamat lined the entire interior. It sounds amazing!
    IMG_8850.jpg
    IMG_8852.jpg

Fast forward to a few months ago, post vehicle swap. The KO2s got replaced with Falken Wildpeak A/T4W 275. Love them! Those are a much better ride than the KO2. Then I got the new Method 317 wheels with topographical center caps. It was starting to come together. After reading through forums and checking out all the options, I developed a master plan for my new ride. The mod bug bit me HARD!
    IMG_4193.jpg

Goal: enhance the rugged off road black out look but add accents of hot pink and make it totally unique.
I’m a VERY GIRLY GIRL (lashes, nails, hair, etc.).

I picked up my stuff from powder coat. The break calipers, suspension springs, and d-ring shackles are all hot pink. Illusion Pink to be exact. The front skid plate is now texture matte black. Much better.
    IMG_2152.jpg
The calipers are going on here.
    IMG_2157.jpg

I decided to go with an Eibach stage 1 lift since the ride is supposed be smooth and it won’t be crazy tall. I’m only 5’2” and this is my daily driver. The lift is getting installed next week. Can’t wait!

Next up, custom wrap time! The plan is a matte black topographical pattern wrap with 3M vinyl. I’m planning the custom wrap for the hood, front and back lower valance to cover the silver, and the Pro Grill that will be installed soon. The hood scoop will be matte hot pink chrome with matte black TRD Off Road decal. Also adding the matte pink chrome on the TRD Off Road overlays on the sides and the TRD inserts on the front skid plate. The rest of the emblems will be black. A local shop is supposed to get me the rendering to approve Monday. I hope he can make my vision come to life. The wrap is planned for next week.
Matte chrome pink wrap sample with powder coated d-ring shackles.
    IMG_4292.jpg

Once the wrap and suspension is done, hubby and I will install the Pro grill with the raptor lights along with the topographic back side window decals. Also adding a custom heritage grill badge and hitch cover.

This will finish off the first stage of my master plan. I will post pics once it’s done. I’m so excited!!!

Future plans to finish her up:

Remote start with app and alarm

Prinsu roof rack full no drill

    Morimoto XB Headlights (white)

    Morimoto XB Tail lights

    White fang lights

Ditch lights (undecided on which brand)

……… I will probably find something else after that’s done

now I just need to name her…

    Oooh look, another mod.....

Welcome aboard neighbor. Name her "My Big Pinky", because of all the pink accents.

Oh, the system he may have chosen was the Trail Grid Pro. It's a kicker setup that keeps the stock stereo so it doesn't look aftermarket at all. That's what I have in my SloRunner. It sounds 20 times louder than stock, but looks stock.

Edit: I found the perfect vanity plates for ya'.

Hi TX-girl. Welcome to the Forum from MO.

Great looking Rig. The "bug" seems to have hit you hard. LOL Interesting idea with the hot pink accents. But it sounds appropriate in your case. My late wife's favorite color was pink. Does Texas require one or two license plate(s) ? If only one is required, I like that one posted above for a front plate. For customization/personalization it would be hard to find a vehicle better suited for this than the 4Runner. I still can't get over the amount of after-market accessories available for this Rig.

Texas requires two plates. But a lot of vehicles don't have 'em. I don't.

FYI, the plate I posted is a legit Texas plates. Go to the website myplates.com and see for yourself.

OK. Texas like Missouri (where I live) also requires two plates. Hmmmm. No, I believe you that's an authentic State plate. My thinking was if TX only required one rear plate, she could have a "personalized" type of plate made up for the front. Yes, as you mentioned, some only mount the one rear plate. I've never hear of anyone being pulled over for lacking the second front-mounted plate.

Yeah, I only have the back plate even tho they require 2 plates. My husband already has YODA 4X4 plates on it but might need to change it to PNKY 4X4 or something. But we just paid another year on that plate. IMG_4336.jpg

The stereo is all after market. The head unit is also after market with custom trim to match the dash. I don’t know the brands but he had the same DFW Stereo shop install it all. He has taken several cars to the same guy and he always does an amazing professional job. It’s a little shop over in Grapevine if anyone wants to upgrade their car stereo. Highly recommend them.

I got the Eibach suspension installed yesterday. It rides great! Absolutely love it!
It looks great with powder coated pink springs. Matches the break calipers and d-ring shackles on the front.
Hopefully getting the wrap done next week. Just waiting on the pink wrap to come in. Of course it was on back order and hard to find. But it will be worth the wait!IMG_4369.jpg

Can anybody recommend some kind of fender well covers to make it look better? Stock looks like patchwork covered with bolts. I would love it to be smooth and solid black.

Black color is not good in hiding scratches. Mine is a mess. After I'm done with the summer, I will get it buffed out, but it's going to cost me some $$$

Welcome, from a little further south of ya!

Very nice on the customisations! You really didn't waste time! You have officially been "stung" by the mod bug... Trust me, it never ends!

With regards to the front plate, I'm another one that doesn't run with it. I keep it inside in case i get pulled over, I can quickly throw it up on the dash. I've never had an issue though.

Nice to have you here, and look forward to seeing what's next in store. :)

    Cheers,

    Sean

Not installing the front license plate when it is required in your state is simply an invitation for a traffic stop.

I’m not scared. I haven’t had a front plate on any car I’ve owned since 2008. Most cars don’t have them.

My husband took a detailing class at a local detail shop. He learned how to buff out minor scratches and apply ceramic coating. He said it’s easy but it takes time and patience. It was a few hundred bucks but he can take care of all the family cars. If you have the time and patience, maybe check into a detailing shop in your area. It’s worth it over the life of a car. The black does show EVERYTHING!

Custom heritage grill badge & hitch cover. I ordered the pink scheme from Taco Vinyl but I wanted my own custom pink color scheme. I had a sample of the pink wrap I’m getting the hood scoop done. So I ordered a few more wrap samples of some other colors to come up with my own custom color combo.
Took me a little time to wrap the pieces but it looks great! And NOBODY else will have the same as mine! Looks even better in the sun.
I can’t wait to get the wrap job done. Just waiting for the pink wrap to arrive. Of course it was on back order. IMG_4375.jpg IMG_4374.jpg

IMG_4421.jpg Installed the OEM TRD front skid plate that I had powder coated black and the letters wrapped in the same pink that will soon be on the hood scoop. Also removed the old flag side window decals and added the new topographical pattern side window decals.
What you can’t see: had remote start and alarm installed (Compustar). Makes life easier in the Texas summer heat.
    IMG_4419.jpg
the wrap job should be done soon. Waiting on their graphics team to figure out printing matte and gloss at the same time.
