Added tiny animated TRD screen to my interior

Tiny TRD logo 'glitches' as an animation. Nothing functional just purely aesthetic. USB powered.

There are 2 sizes from Enginetix, the standard mini size and the 'MEGA' size. You can also request for a 'flipped' option which would have the screens connector at the bottom. I chose mega and flipped but I think the mini would have an easier install process as I had to modify the mega screen to fit.

You can either modify the SECURITY indicator light or the PASSENGER airbag indicator light. The following pics show the passenger light but they are both identical but not exactly the same as angles and orientation are flipped. I simply removed all the guts after removing the plastic lens.

I ended up using a security indicator light which is on the left side of some models and found a trim piece to match.

 

Next I filed down the top edge and the bottom edge of the screen so it would fit inside the clear plastic lens. (I don't have a picture of this)

 

On the bottom middle of the black housing opening I trimmed out the middle portion to fit the white connector of the screen. (If you choose the MINI version you would have an easier time fitting the screen). I had the MEGA size. Not super clear but you can kinda see what I mean in the pic.

I then just put the plastic lens over everything. The screen is pressure fit in place so it does not move around. Be sure to check fitment as I cracked part of the screen when trying to put everything back together. Other modification or filing may be required to get right fitment. The included wires just exit out the back of the black housing.

For power, I already had an extra USB port hidden below the shifter console so I simply just ran the wire down there for power.

 

Pretty neat, can those be made to display obd information on the 4runner version?

 

You would have to check with the maker. He does make other gauges as well but they are single purpose.
