    Hello all, new member here.

I have looked all around for an answer to this simple question.

While I can remove the bolts that hold the front of the rear seats, I can't remove the lower seats themselves.

I have a 2016. I keep seeing people pulling on a strap that lifts up the bottom part of the seat. Then it rests vertically, against the back of the front row seats.

No such lifting strap on mine. It feels like the lower seat is attached to the backrest, and permanently.

    Your thoughts appreciated

That strap they pull on releases a catch and allows the bottom part of the back seat to pivot forward. If the strap isn't there, you need to push your hand down between the seat and back and find that thing. This will allow you to recline the back seat. Removing it is also possible when the seat bottom is lifted.
