I just bought one and Toyota said my vehicle does not have that feature. It seems mine is the only one on the planet without this feature! I can't start with FOB (lock 1, 2, 3 long hold) and the app can't have remote service added to it per my VIN.

    Thoughts?

You're not the only one. Looks like Toyota disabled it from the factory.

Only the Pro Bro and Limited get it in the US. It's been that way for years now.

Just get an aftermarket kit. I believe Accessorides keeps the engine running when you open the door with a keyless start Runner.

The Accessorides kit does kill the engine when you open the doors (but not the back liftgate). It’s a great kit. I have it in my 21 Venture and love it.

I purchased a remote start for my 2024 4Runner Off Road from the Toyota website with my dealer. This is my first Toyota, and the remote start they installed is the Drone app-based setup. I have a remote start on my 2013 GMC truck on the key fob, so I was a little surprised by the app and more surprised it wasn't a Toyota product. The dealer had my 4Runner for a couple of days since I was also installing leather seats from Katzkin, and I am not sure what module was installed in the vehicle. The app works great, but it all seems odd.

Newer kit doesn’t kill it. Installer posted about it here a while back

They have 2 kits. One OEM and one with the door take over. 50$ difference.

I looked it up and the option now does not turn off when the door is opened which is nice. But could someone break in and take off with out the key on them is the only question I have.

Not really. The door stays locked and the key still needs to be detected to shift into drive.
