I'd rather eat glass than deal with a 4runner for 99% onroad driving

Good point, if I ditched the off-road requirement I would have probably gotten a 2019 Highlander, it would've been far and away the superior choice and save me 10 grand on top of that. (shopping SR5 vs gas LE, as of last fall)

It's not a car though, if you don't truly offroad a car is better.

i have to agree, as much as I love mine, I wouldn’t want to do a long road trip in it. Glad we have 2 vehicles

    Andrew-

Great movie quote! Not sure everyone here caught it though....based on the comments ;) Then again, I'm old....so there's that - LOL

Unfortunately, the Limited pretty much checks all your boxes.....but just out of curiosity, why are you not a fan of Full-Time 4WD? (it is different than AWD) It does nothing but help maintain traction on wet and slippery roads, doesn't cause any kind of gas mileage penalty, and in all honesty you don't even realize it's there in normal driving conditions. Again....just me being curious.

    Thanks,
    TimG - NJ ('24 Limited)

After decades of infrastructure cuts, side roads are absolute shit around where I live and snow plowing isn't much better. To the point that I decided that my old winter beater, Subaru WRX, is not up to the task anymore. I got tired of fixing bent rims and getting icebergs out of lower bumper.

So there are onroad driving, and then there on"road" driving. Technically, both are not offroading.

Then still get a suv. Something like a tahoe drives a million times nicer on road than a 4runner.

100%…. I haven’t had a car/truck this fun for my in town driving since my ‘98 TJ. No stress regarding potholes, etc…. Plus’s this is a TOYOTA, one of the last “built-to-last” versions. And it’s nice to know if I really want to go there, I can.

I actually looked at one, build quality was abysmal, expected reliability non-existent, and on-star selling data to insurance was a show-stopper.

4Runner is not Jeep, there are other valid reasons to buy it than just offroading.

I drove my 4Runner many times on the highway (Limited on street tires) and did not find it objectionable. I honestly don't understand why people rag on this.

They rag on it because it sucks to drive on road. Try anything else. The 4runner also has abysmal build quality, reliability is OK at best, and they do sell data to insurance. A tahoe will be just as reliable as a 4runner

Too funny!!! I have nothing against the Tahoe but your 4Runner experience seems to be opposite of mine so far.

Personally, my OTD price was within a few hundred of what you have there and I bought back in December. In my area, 4Rs sell very quickly and mostly at MSRP. Very few on the lots, most on the dealer sites are Pending Sale here. Mine's an SR5P with minimal equipment (360 camera, moonroof, running boards, floor mats/cargo mat). I wanted just those few things. I'm glad I bought mine when I did. Anything for sale locally recently has a bunch more port options tacked on. And most of the SR5s I've seen at the local dealers have the 3rd row seat, which I didn't want because of the cargo area loss. I do a lot of camping and those 4 inches of lost vertical space is a big deal.

I occasionally think I should have gotten an ORP, but while the off-road gadgets are cool (locker, lever T-case, multi-terrain select), I would probably never use them.

Perhaps lifted offroad suspension, oversized all-terrain tires and 1500 pounds of accessories and armor is the cause?

I have. Not only 4Runner isn't my only vehicle or the only SUV I have, I am a car person and probably drove and owned more cars than most people. I also have classic cars, sports cars, a track car. Plenty to compare.

4Runner limited on street tires is both OK on the highway and has sufficient power to pass at speed. Perhaps all the hate is from people that put square wheels on and expect it to not detrimentally impact handling?

Compared to what? Sure, it isn't Mercedes 300D, but then nothing modern at any price point is.

Not if you pull DCM fuse. Which on my 2024 Limited didn't impact any speakers.

I am not buying what you are selling here.

Get the barebone 4X4 SR5, it is the best trim.
