New Owner: What oil change interval do you recommend?!

Just kidding about the oil change question…a little thread humor at the expense of a worn out topic…

Happy to have recently purchased one of the last of an absolute legend, after having previously driven several Tacomas. I’ve also owned an FJ Cruiser and MR2 Spyder, so I’m fully versed on eccentric Toyotas. Great to be part of the ongoing conversation; see “fresh-from-dealer” pic below.

Ideally oil change every 1500 miles using 5W40 only. Rest, the engine is bullet proof and will run on water also.

My ‘14 FJ was a lovable 4.0 liter tank that slurped gas & begged for upgrades, and the 4R seems cut from the same cloth.

 

1K oil changes not kidding.

I just mix oil with the gas like my chain saw.

 

Funny you mentioned that. I have HD oil & Xmsn/Primary GB lube. Just need to get to it.
Was gonna do that last weekend but my wife ended up W/severe Vertigo from 4:00 am Friday am till afternoon Sat. Spent Friday 6:00 pm to 4:00 am in LVHN satellite hospital & the drove to main hospital Sat. where the MRI came back clean & brought her home @ 5:00pm. She's in great health & never experienced that ever. Got scared after they had given her 2k of IV & several med when they had her try to walk @ 1:00ish she started to fall back into the bed. BP was 180+to161/90 every 1/2 hr.
