Started today with a airplane sound when braking under 10 mph…

I literally thought an airplane was landing when I first heard it.

    Any thoughts?

    Oooh look, another mod.....

Make sure you do a pre-flight inspection before you drive your 4Runner again.

Definitely will. Not sure if it is brakes or wheel bearing.

Don't forget Ram Jet's! Maybe his 4Runner is trying to hit Mach 3?

This thread is now a joke. Unless the OP will provide some video of airplane sounds, other than his mom spoon feeding him beets, we're done here.

Based on the 2nd photo I'd say the issue is with your vertical stabilizer

That would definitely cause some weird noises.

Could be! Under 10 MPH is close to stall speed.

Regarding the baby airplane…nobody is going to comment on the imminent departure of the vertical stabilizer and resulting loss of controlled flight?

Hopefully the OP can figure out the noise. Sometimes when my 4runner picks up rocks in the heat shields, it can sound like a sopwith camel on final approach.

It's obviously the old rattlesnake made it's home in your brake drum. Copperheads don't make that sound. FYI, they're a little tricky to evict, especially in California.

@Tucker1027 , something more descriptive than "airplane sound" would help.

High pitched squeel could be the wear indicators (squealers). How old are the pads (mileage)?

A grinding noise would suggest that a pad, or pads have worn beyond friction material and are metal on metal, in which case you'd probably need a new rotor and pads.

Hey OP, @Tucker1027 , all joking aside, we are here to help. But man, you've gotta give us something other than "airplane landing". I land them all the time, and there are a lot of different noises that can be heard.

It would also be helpful to know how many miles on it and if it has ever had new brakes? As others have said first thing could be it's the wear indicators INDICATING.
