My heart breaks, no new 4Runner for us

Well, all you pessimists were right. My heart breaks as today my salesman texted me and I was all excited to hear news on our new 4Runner but instead it just said “2024 4Runner production has ended, we didn’t end up getting your SR5.” Dammit, they obviously lied. At least I get my deposit back. Wish I had jumped on this boat few months earlier. Lightly Used ones across Canada cost as much as I was going to pay new, or often even more. And now with a much higher interest rate compared to a new one financed through TFS so higher payments, a lot more money, for something used.

not sure what do now. Will sit on it, super bummer. Maybe buy used in a few months or maybe not. The interest rate increase for buying a used vehicle instead of going through TFS adds $10,000 in additional interest alone to the price of the vehicle. Enjoy your sweet rides friends

 

Just don't sweat it....impulse buying is never good and always more expensive. Just hang in there. If it's meant to be it will happen.
I have walked away from many deals I have REALLY WANTED, only to find better deal later.

 

Take a test drive in a 2025 when they show up on dealer lots. You'll likely forget about the 5th gen after driving it for a bit.

 

Is 2024 production already starting to end or are they becoming harder to come by in your market? Canada?

We got ours April 13, 2024 in Denver. I know it's pushing into August, but are they already starting to drop-off? I just read another thread that the 2025 is getting pushed back so maybe there will be more production

 

I would look at other dealerships, somebody might have 2024 4Runner in stock. Maybe not exactly the same trim or color you wanted and 100 km away but still might worth it if you're sure you don't want 2025 4Runner.

 

My advice - look nationally, accept any color, and be prepared to drive/fly to pick it up.

 

Where are you located? I would be willing to travel. Beaver Toyota in Cummings, GA has many available.

I think they are in Canadia, so everything is probably metric and they may be translating from French. So, Georgia, and other US locations, may be out of the question.

 

Start checking dealer lots and take whatever you can get.

Or, wait for the '25's.

no it’s done. No new 4Runners will be built from here on out. Whatever 5th gen exists is all that will ever exist.

 

I’m sure it’ll be extra fancy sexy, I even like the way it looks. However I was dead set on 5th gen because it doesn’t have all this new crap, I wanted an old 4.0 litre and a 5 speed that’s tried and true. I’m NOT a fan of turbo hybrids, 4 bangers in big SUV’s, or the space shuttle amount of electronics plus the nanny “safety” features. Plan was to keep it 20 years, 6th gens won’t last that long and for most people they don’t care because they’ll be long bored of it by then, but I like to keep things forever.

Yeah we’re looking. Will be fun asking for time off to go pick it up after having just took a month long wedding/honeymoon lol

Let go of your emotional connection. Your heart isn't broken, and it doesn't break, because you can't buy a car. Take a deep breath and remind yourself that you have the money in the bank and are more financially free today than if you had bought the inanimate object.

 

Heh, you're still worrying about a turbo, when the mere presence of a combustion engine is in jeopardy in many vehicle models.

Be glad the 6th gen kept the PRNDL shifter. Earlier this year Tesla changed to swiping on the center screen; no buttons anymore. Such is the pace of progress in this industry.

 

My local dealer has 19 4Runners in stock and 8 are SR5's

I was driving north of Boston a couple of weeks ago near Revere Beach area on route 1 and passed a parking lot with probably 75 or more 5th gens lined up bumper to bumper. My son and I were taken aback by how many there were. There's an Atlantic Toyota nearby - they had to be new.

 

Plus they probably want that special "canadapackage "with extra beer cup holders, extra head room for fur covered antler hats, fuzzy steeering wheel covers , maple scented interior and such............

 

are there other new Toyota dealers in Canadia? maybe you could still get one at another dealer?

local dealer in TX has ZERO 4runners on the lot, but has over 100 Tundras and Tacos

I'd keep looking for a 2024

 

Not sure what part of the country you're in but in my neck of the woods (BC interior) there's not much to be found but in Vancouver area there's a few kicking around. My dealer managed to get me a Solar Octane Off Road after a few months of waiting.

 

A SR5 should be doable at other dealers.

I bought mine in March, 24 from Peterson in Fort Collins, CO. I called the sales person today and was told their are over 700 2024 4runners available in Colorado. Same old lot lizard nonsense.
