I decided to go ahead a replace my xreas with new shocks (leaning towards the eibachs I had before) and getting Dobinsons low lift 1” spring (238s). When they first came out 6 years ago they were like $170 a pair. They’re almost $300 now. Are they worth the extra money over factory coils if I’m only lifting the from 1”?

Pretty sure the price of everything has gone up substantially in the past 3.5 years...

Eibach makes coil springs. OME does too. I would choose one of them before dobinsons for a few reasons.

I know everything has gone up but the Dobinsons have almost doubled. The main reason I looked at them was they had more low lift springs. I guess I’ll just use my stock ones.

It is unlikely your 22 already has xreas issues, so your are replacing perfectly functioning parts. IMO this is not a cost-effective update, you money is better spent elsewhere.

What exactly are you trying to achieve? I totally agree with @Sin4R. If you're looking for more offroad prowess, purchasing a Limited was not appropriate. If you just want "the look", you can add some spacers. I think Cornfed? makes some.

I didn’t really want a limited but I wanted dual climate control. I got the limited for $8000 less than the Pro I looked at and $2000 less than the TRD I would have been happy with. My front tires are wearing weird so I know I need an alignment. Replacing the struts is basically the same amount of work as installing a spacer. Thought I’d take care of the low front and get better shocks at the same time I don’t extreme Offroad, just access roads and fields. The front is at least 1/2” lower than the other 5th gen’s I’ve had.

Why do you need more clearance for that? Are you planning to do more than this:

I think your current ride only needs new tires and alignment.

I think front is way too low. Not sure if the low front end or the awd is eating the front tires. I rotate them every 5k with the oil change. I don’t mind the ride of the xreas but I’m used to a firmer truck suspension. I’ve got a 3/8 and 1/2 spacer in the garage. I just didn’t want to have to get it aligned again if new shocks would be better. Just trying to improve and fix the problem not just fix what was worn premature (tires)

Bad alignment is eating your tires. It is easy fix - get alignment done.

4Runner factory stance is slight lean upfront, this is normal and nothing to do with xreas. Replacing suspension would not address that. If that is what bothering you, there are kits that will allow you to raise front and only front without having to rip out xreas.

If you decided on Dobs, then you have to pay what they cost.

    Negative not here.

    OP

Honestly sounds like you should of lived without the dual climate controls. But your money I'd go with Dobinsons before adding a spacer.

I guess my engineering background makes me want to improve things not just fix them. My wife says I overthink and over build everything.

This isn't over building its just the wrong choice for what you want to do.

You want to overbuilding change the front end completely. Its been done.

Price, customer service, easier and faster to obtain, better instructions than dobinsons. Eibach makes coil springs for several different OEM manufacturers. They have more experience making springs than probably anyone on the planet.
