Good luck in CA where hell they won’t sell you washer fluid that doesn’t freeze—except at high elevations.

Yeah, lots of states regulate the amount of VOCs in ww fluid (methanol). In CA people can’t even buy it before their annual trip to snow country. Then their windshield ices up in a storm on a mountain road while struggling to put on chains. o_O

Didn't realize the 4Runner doesn't have one. Most all of the vehicles I have driven have had them. It was nice on my silverados because they seemed to always come on when it needed exactly 1 gallon of fluid. Never had an issue with any of the sensors failing.

I can't remember the last time any of my vehicles had one of these lights. But when under my 4Runner the other day I noticed what appeared to be a sensor on the bottom of my tank. I'll let it run out at some point just to see if a light comes on...

I just learned today that my 21 Venture doesn't have a chime or indicator for low washer fluid. Luckily I was in town and was able to swing by a shop and get a gallon to fill 'er up but if this had happened out on the road I'd be screwed. I live in rural Wyoming and the bugs are insane this time of year. I was used to my previous rigs (1999 Tahoe and 2012 Ram) telling me when it was low so I was surprised when the 4R gave me a little spittle then nothing with no warning at all. Is there any way to enable the warning (chime sound or visual indicator)? In any case, I'll simply start carrying a gallon with me since the shortest trip to anywhere is 1.5hrs for me.

'15 SR5 - Driving down the street the other day, hit the washer and got zip.

A streaky windshield seems to be the low fluid warning...

A light goes on in my head when I get no fluid when needed.

But don't people open the hood and check fluid levels anymore?

Never heard of a low washer fluid light. 51 years old and still learning new things haha.

I've regularly driven Pontiac, Mercury, Ford, Chevy, Isuzu, Mazda, Dodge and Toyota. Never had a light that I'm aware of.

Excepting people on this site, I'd wager most Toyota owners do not check fluids, or even know how to open the hood.

My '07 Volvo has a low washer alert, as did my 97 Grand Cherokee. I think my 88 Trans Am did as well.

Funny - I was wondering about this the other day. I haven't run out yet, but figure I'm getting low. Good to know there's no warning. This is my first Toyota, and my first car without that warning ever.
    Cars with it VW x 2, Audi x 2, MB, Plymouth, Chevy, Ford x 2, Jeep x 3, Subaru x 3, Nissan x 2.

Wow. It's crazy that some, like you, have had this on so many vehicles, while others like me, have never had it on any vehicle (48 years of driving). Like others, I just habitually checked.

Even my uncivilized heathen Tacoma has the low washer warning :)

Now if only there are washer nozzles to spray the millwave radar faceplate and backup camera lens.
