    Good morning everyone.
This may be a long shot but would anyone have their original plastic oil filter housing laying around that they have replaced with the metal one? I’m looking for one in good shape that is relatively new.
If so would you be willing to part with it, sell and ship to me?
I am in need of a replacement and prices from the dealers are crazy. I don’t have much faith in buying from Amazon or eBay with all the fakes out there. It is a critical part after all.
PM me with any leads Thank You, Mark

Why? They are prone to cracking, well at least in my experiance. Why not the metal one?

I’d guess it’s probably good enough for their use case without spending for a metal one especially if OP DIY’s it.

That seems to be what all dealers get, give or take. Just seemed like a lot for what it is and thought one of the many who preferred metal might have their old OEM collecting dust.

Exactly. I bought a metal replacement in’21 with the plan to replace it. I didn’t like the way it felt when threading it on. The plastic seems to engage and seal all through the threads better. Just my preference I guess.
I did drop mine this weekend and it hit pretty hard on the lip, got me to thinking I should have a backup for a just in case.

I don’t see a use case for the metal one unless you run without your skids.

I'm pretty sure you have the take part of the strainer out of the plastic one and install it into the metal replacement. So the old plastic one would be worthless unless you're able to salvage that part off your broken plastic one.

Feel free to message me if you're still looking. I swapped mine out at my first oil change on my 2023.
