Interested in y’all’s insight on the Lexus GX 550 overall?

looking for something solid, that is luxury on the inside, yet that I can also maintain at home.
Love my 4Runner and plan to keep it forever. Thinking to trade in our old Sienna.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
I love the new look of 'em, and this is the one that I want and have thought about getting:

I'd have to get the Overtrail + trim level, but I wish they had more or better colors. I guess the rich don't like blue's or red's? Every color is an earth-tone color. I'm not a huge fan of that. Plus, you have to use premium gas in it. Another additional cost!

Yeah. I guess those turbos need the premium for combustion or something. They look amazing! I’d keep the 4R for off-roading and that would be our travel on road and campsite family hauler. Luxury has massage seats!!! What is this world we live in!

The GX redesign looks amazing and I’m a sucker for Nori Green Pearl. It will be on my wish list, once they work out the new model kinks in about 2-3 years.

people have been claiming this since fuel injection came out. Its wrong.

If they fix the v35a i'll get one. If they don't i'll pass and probably keep the 4runner

Agreed. I’m trying to understand what it is I am not able to do maintenance wise on these? I’ve worked on cars as a hobby for 20 years.

You think it’s just the mechanical powertrain that goes wrong? What about the electronics and software?

If it was me Id save $30k+ and get a low mileage GX460. Can't go wrong with its known reliability and V8. Here's mine before I sold it for the Tundra. I wish I kept it and sold the 4Runner instead.

Definitely should not be maintained at home. When it's engine start failing like Tundra and LX600 Toyota might give an excuse "not maintained at Toyota, hence not eligible for new engine/ warranty fix".

What is it about the electrical or software that you are afraid you won't be able to fix? Essentially everything on the car is replaceable

Much better bang for buck. Although if you want the latest and greatest, it won't tick all your boxes.

I strongly considered one when 4Runner shopping, but the slightly higher price and smaller interior space turned me off.

I guess that's kind of universal, though: lightly used outgoing generation is typically a better deal than a brand new model (unless the model is a flop, or once the used inventory dries up).

Just look at 3G vs 4G Tacomas right now...
