Will 35% tint on the front windows match the factory back windows?

Questions about window tint. I live in Tennessee the legal limit is 35% on the front windows will that match the factory back? I am gonna get Ceramic with the windshield at 70% the legal limit as well.

 

I’m in NC and the 70 on the windshield is a no go, they limit you to the top 5” only. Still thinking about doing that along with the 32 they allow on the front windows. Will go xpel for that for sure.

Still deciding if I’m gonna go 35% on the front windows or illegal 20 but yes the windshield for sure at 70%

 

I've read where people have tested factory tint at around 28% with a meter. 35% will be really light up front, but you should consider how strict law enforcement is in your area. I think 20% is perfect, dark enough for added privacy and reducing interior temperature, but it shouldn't make law enforcement feel like they can't see you if they are approaching your vehicle.

 

Cygnus-4 I figured if I get pulled over the first thing I will do is drop the back glass so they can see and not be nervous anyway

 

My concern in NC is not so much police, but passing my annual inspection where they specifically check the tint %. No point in spending $ to hope it doesn’t get noticed to just then have to pay to have it removed. But that’s just my take.

 

Luckily don’t have an annual inspection in Tennessee they just want the money pay for your tags and that’s it. I see so many vehicles with 5% all the way around and probably 25-30 on the windshield I won’t push it that far.

 

‘Metered back windows recently on my limited and it metered at 22%.

I got 35% on the fronts, and 70% on windshield, sunroof, and back windows.
The XPEL 35% fronts pretty much match the darkness of the rear privacy glass with 70% on it.

Also, that 70% on the windshield makes a HUGE difference. After I got mine tinted, I had a service loaner 2024 4runner that did not have windshield tint, just the crappy dealer tint on front windows and I could really tell a difference in the heat in the vehicle w/o the windshield tinted.

I drive east in the morning, and west going home...so into the sun both ways. With the windshield (and sunroof tint) the truck got cold enough that I had to turn the A/C down.

With only the dealer tint on the front windows, I had the A/C running full blast the whole way home and never got cold.

My guy charged $350 extra for windshield and $150 for sunroof, but it was for sure worth it

 

T in Texas I got a quote for $400 for the windows and $150 for the windshield just deciding on what % to tint never considered the sunroof

 

If you’re paying for tint, shop the installer first and then pay for a quality ceramic tint. Even if it’s just a 90% clear, it will help immensely with the uv and heat rejection. Make sure to do all of the windows, including the windshield, moonroof, and back factory colored glass.

I paid $1250 for tint and $2400 for XPEL PPF on front clip and mirrors

 

30% on front doors, 70% on front windshield

 

Darker tint ftw.

30% Front Doors
15% Rear Doors
5% Rear Quarter Glass

Also did
30% sunroof, 15% Hatch Glass. 70% Windshield w/ 5% brow.
All Nano Ceramic.

I would have preferred 20% all the way around but the price difference was significant enough to sway me at the time.

 

Well yours turned out really nice man. Super clean rig!

The only reason I went darker was privacy. I mounted the Molle panels and shelf in the back and didn't want them to visible.
When the rig was in the shop I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the full tint job including windshield and sunroof. Nano Ceramic everything. Helps a ton with the Texas heat.

My bad I should have put that in my original post. Went back and added it.
I believe it's already factory tinted glass so I did 30% sunroof. I like the extra light but not the heat

I paid less than $400 for ceramic tint @ 5% all the way around, and he did the "eyebrow" for the front windshield.

That’s pretty funny, since you mounted it just under a gas cap holder that’s made into the door.

Wow, I wonder if I bought another superfluous item I didn't really need and was a waste of money...

At least I can feel comfortable, really comfortable...
knowing the $400 I spent on nitrogen filled tires is improving the ride and fuel economy

Just got them done today all rears and windshield 70% with the front driver, passenger, and sunroof at 15% to match pretty close will see better after it’s cured all ceramic

 

Adding a data point:

My factory privacy glass in the back metered at 31%

I added 50% to the rear privacy glass and did 15% for the front side windows to match the back.

No tint for windshield or sunroof.

I think 20% would be an ideal balance but the 15% is nice. It doesn't draw attention like 5% but provides plenty of privacy and heat rejection with ceramic.
