Not sure what you mean? I receive air at 70F in my face while my wife receives air at 79F.

Now if she wanted the heat on and I wanted ice cold air it’s another story

JBL was an option on the trdorp. The dual climate zone control is largely useless in a cabin as small and as poorly insulated as the 4runners. Not to mention the fan is weak as hell

At some point, you side would have to cool as her 79 is mixing with your 70, and her 79 would be impacted by your 70. Sure for a 10 minute ride, it wouldn’t matter, but on a hour plus I don’t see how both sides would compete. No big deal, just something my head doesn’t understand.

Does the heat gun melt the surrounding plastic that the bolt is housed in?

Oh I know, if we had that in our runner, I’d be running AC and the wife would have it at 80 and we would have storm clouds in the middle.

Honestly, I truly don’t see the need for it in open vehicle.

JBL is not an option on the ORP.
There are 3 options for the 4R. Base speaker, upgraded “premium speakers”, and premium speakers with JBL.
The ORP come with the base speakers and there’s a package to get the premium speakers for extra money but it does not include JBL

Yes, the air temp inside the cabin is going to mix, but the air that “hits” your body as it comes out of the vent is colder on one side vs the other side if you set it a 2 different temps. I ve had cars with and without. It doesn’t mean there’s ice on one side and fire or the other. But overtime it does make a big enough difference for me mainly when driving for hours and really be able to dial in the temperature that you want. If the wife sets hers at 79 and I set mine at 70, it might feel more like 74 inside the cabin in between where the 2 temps mix but that’s still better than the 79 id be getting if there wasn’t dual zone. (Don’t pay too much attention at the value of the temp, they are obviously not exact and just rough numbers to explain the point of dual zone)

When I have friends next to me, it doesn’t matter because they use the same temp as me.

They couldn't coexist in equilibrium, but the individual thermostats and blowers can prevent equilibrium as long as they're on.

So you don’t have the storage area in the rear hatch by the wheel well?

I never heard of a ORP with the 15 speakers JBL straight from factory on any of the 5th gen years but I could be wrong. Could it have been a dealer installed add on? I’m assuming you bought it brand new?

    Is this still a thing?

Hot take, most people aren't "trying hard to be like a pro". When I'm done I'll have pro parts/trail edition parts/venture parts/limited parts ... Basically I'm building the version I'd have specked out if I could have picked any thing I wanted from the catalog. OEM+ was what it was referred to in other car circles I've been in in the past. Like others, had I got the pro, the majority of parts that made it a pro would have been sold off. I don't think anyone is adding pro badges to a nonpro these days.

I opted for no JBL. Yes I purchased new. I was not a fan of the premium cost and less storage space with the system when it still sounded like ass. Most of the models I was seeing at the time with JBL also had kdss, which I also did not want.

Ok so you don’t have it on your truck but when you bought your truck it was available on other ORPs. I really think it was a dealer install then because I couldn’t find any ORP with JBL straight from Toyota regardless of the region. I tried finding the specs for the 2020 and Toyota did not list JBL as an option available on the ORP (although I’ve seen people adding it after purchasing their 4R).
I don’t hate the JBL, and I think it could be a lot better, but to my ears it’s considerably better than the base audio. I do wish I had the storage area in the rear hatch though. It sucks that the JBL audio takes all that space and is not somewhere else on the other side

Maybe you're right, so far have only used it once to cool down my cat on the way to the vet.
