My wife has a ‘14 4x4 SR5 with 53k and complained that the 4Lo light has been blinking intermittently and when it happens she has a hard time getting the shifter into drive.

Anyone else have this problem and if so have you taken to the dealer and what did they say?

I could not replicate the problem, however, I found someone posted the same issue on T4R.

I have extended warranty and want to get it fixed.

What was the resolution of this? I have a 2012 4Runner Limited and I’m having the same problem.

    TIA.

Has it been shifted into 4lo recently? Most never have reason to use it, but It's good to do once in awhile to keep things moving. We had one that seized due to lack of use (that's my guess, anyway). After MANY attempts, we finally got it to engage with a big thump. I don't know if that would be advised, but it worked and is still just fine.

Only used 4Lo once years ago to test it out and nothing was spilled on the switch as someone else postulated.

She said it only happened a handful of times but A search revealved that it has happened to others also.

I am sure I will get the “cannot duplicate customers concern” when I take it in but at least it will be on the record. Hopefully if its gonna do it again and break it will be before the expiration of my extended warranty.

Every one should exercise these systems on a fairly regular basis to keep things lubed and functioning like they should. This will also help recognize problems if there should be any. I drive mine in 4x4 at least 10 miles a month like the manual says to and usually put it in 4 low and engage the locker about every two months. It's just good practice.
